Great, authentic food. Got the tzatziki and the Greek salad which were both excellent. Service is fantastic. One minor downside is that the place is cash only and it’s not well posted, so I didn’t have any way to pay, the manager was so kind —she told me not to worry and to come back to pay when I could!
Whenever I have cash I eat here. The only real down side to this dining experience is that I don't always have cash. More importantly what to order: 1⃣ Lamb, tis da MF'n bomb! 2⃣ Gyro 3⃣ House salad with the sardines 4⃣ Hummus. It should probably be 2nd it's that good. Also, you can definitely share the platters. But who wants to do that?
Located at the end of long line of rowhomes as far as the eye can see in the Greektown neighborhood of Baltimore sits the classic Samos. Since 1977 they have been serving up some of the cities better Greek meals. You’ll even find the original chef and owner behind the grill still cranking out quality dishes since day 1. Stopping by for lunch today, there was ample seating available which is often not the case at this cash only restaurant. Starting with a few classics such as the saganaki and eggplant spread as well as their delicious avgolemeno, it brought me a warm comfort to be dining here again. While the saganki didn’t come out flaming, it was still quite indulgent and tasty. While they have some of my favorite Greek dressing anywhere, I was in a carnivorous mood as you can see pictured. With a sampling of chicken lamb, pork and beef souvlaki skewers paired with their roasted vegetables you can’t miss. All tender and flavorful as the next. With a side of fresh tzatziki for dipping, you can’t go wrong. If you still have room, do not skip out on the Galaktoboureko with its fresh baked layers of flaky phyllo and warm custard.
After one visit, it’s easy to see why this restaurant has lasted 40+ years. Simple but sufficient menu. We ordered an assortment of appetizers to try. The grilled octopus was a pleasant delight and I particularly enjoyed the grilled pork kebab. My guilty pleasure was the fluffy and flavorful pitta bread.
My first time there and man is this place a rare find. My daughter and I split the huge gyro, best ever, a plate of tzatziki with pita, melitzanosalata, and olive tapenade all outstanding snd clearly made right in house. Then we were lucky that day because they were making to order, Loukoumades, which were dough balls lightly dipped in sugar with a honey cinnamon topping. That topping is homemade and I had the luxury of standing there asking the chef how he made it since the kitchen area is visible from the front counter. They were exquisite really. Save room and cross your fingers they are making them the day you go! Hands down best authentic Greek food around!!!
Just piling on for the great reviews. I’ve been coming here on and off for years, and it’s a regular stop anytime I’m around this part of Hopkins. You can’t go wrong with the food here.Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
Great Greek restaurant. Will definitely come back again!
The BEST Greek food I have ever had hands down. The pita was perfect. The taziki was perfect. All the food was absolutely perfect. And all at an extremely affordable price. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore. I'd recommend to anyone in Greektown. Absolutely 5 star experience.
Went here for lunch on Christmas Eve and it was one of the best restaurant experiences I've had. My whole family of nearly 10 people ate, some getting multiple dishes of incredible tasting food and the bill was under $160. Many of the meals were under 13 dollars and everything tasted amazing.Food: 5/5
It's sadly been 8 years since the last time we were at Samos and I wasn't sure what to expect. We used to frequent the restaurant when we lived closer. But it's like nothing changed in a good way! The food was as amazing as we remember, and the service was absolutely great. Can't wait to go back!
