I recently spent 2 days touring the plant and was impressed with the professionalism and work ethic of everyone I encountered. Sure, it's a bit smelly in places as microbes do their job breaking down waste water, but they are keeping our bay clean and habitable for wildlife and enjoyable for human beings by managing liquid waste from our homes and businesses.

To all the other reviewers. Educate yourself or stop by this facility to take a tour. You will not only learn a few things. You'll also know where your taxes are going and you most likely can smell for yourself where the odors really come from.

I have to agree with Russ K., the ignorance in the review remarks here is profound. The purpose of this waste water treatment facility is to TREAT Silicon' Valley's waste water. I am familiar with the processes they use, and it does a fine job. If you need proof, you can visit the stream that flows northward out of the plant. The egrets and fish in the San Francisco Bay are quite happy there. Let me also agree with some of what Axelrod Horowitz wrote. Ninety nine times out of 100, what you smell in North San Jose and Milpitas is not the waste water treatment facility, but the garbage dump located on Dixon Landing Road, a little under two miles to the north.
