Sanford is an MYP Candidate school. MYP is the MIddle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. We believe in rigor for all students, taking a global perspective, and an interconnected, interdisciplinary approach to learning. We are an MPS Area B pathway school with the IB programs at Bancroft and Roosevelt.

Sanford is organized in grade-level teams and students stay together for 3 years, so that students & staff get to know each other well. Humanities (English and Social Studies) teachers loop with their students for all 3 years at Sanford. Math and Science teachers are more specialized, but math teachers do loop with students from 7-8th grade.

In addition to the four team classes, all students also take World Language, Arts, Tech, and PE/Health classes. Our World Languages are Arabic and Spanish. Arts choices include performing arts (Band, Choir or Drama) and visual arts. Tech choices include Intro to Design and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering classes.

Sanford has a 7-period day schedule to ensure that all students have access to all 8 MYP-defined subject areas, as well as Reading and Math support as needed. We welcome prospective families to tour!
