First time here.. was very good…! Can’t wait to come back with some other seasonal items back on the menu! We had the cheese curds, Brussels, Mac n cheese add meat and chicken, mashed potatoes and greens!! although I’m glad they had some cider options because I don’t drink most of their options aside from that it was great!
Saraveza is a nice neighborhood bar and grill in Northeast on Killingworth Street. Be sure to bring your phone because the menu and payment system is all electronic. See the staff to get a table and use the QR code to view rhe menu, set up a tab, combine diners, order and pay the bill. Seeing that you have almost no interaction with the wait staff I wonder what the tipping protocol is for this service mechanism. I tipped my usual but that doesn't seem right. Anyway once you get to the menu, the choices are varied but you need to add them to your cart to see the full descriptions. Note that there are only certain options included in he listed price. Other options, including fries, have upcharges associated with them. The beer selection is not extensive but adequate and had some nice choices. You can request a sample if you are not sure. The large radicchio salad was indeed large and tasty enough but the dressing is somewhat bland. The primary reason for the 3 star rating was the brisket sandwich. I was intrigued by the description of in-house smoked brisket and the sauces but what I got was not good. The presentation was basically a 1/2" thick.slab of meat on a bun. The first bite was all fat. The second had some meat but more fat. I took the sandwich apart and, as you can see from the photo, more than half was fat. Seeing as I was pretty hungry, I shredded what little meat there was, put it back on the roll, and ate. The waitress did come by to ask how the meals were but made no effort to correct the deficiency. Perhaps this is what should be expected for this dish. Overall pricing of $10-15 for a sandwich/entree seems to be in line with the area. Saraveza has been around since 2008 so it's likely I had a bad experience so stop in to enjoy a brew and sandwich. I know I won't have the brisket again. Feel free to try your luck.
My wife and I got married at the Bad Habit Room nextdoor years ago, and we always make time to stop by Saraveza for these delicious pasties when we visit Portland! The flaky crust and tasty fillings can't be beat. And we always find something new to drink while waiting for our togo order. Love Saraveza.
One of the top 5 Mac & Cheeses I've ever had! With the burnt ends...incredible!!! The radicchio salad is ridiculously good and there's a great beer selection. Cover outdoor seating.
My favorite local pub and eatery. An impressive selection of unique quality beers to go, and a delicious menu to choose from for a neighborhood dinner or a date. And their fried chicken sandwich is absolutely FIRE . Honestly one of the best chicken sandwiches in PdX
Worth the two mile walk to get the cheese curds though I would have preferred a marinara to the spicy ketchup and ranch offerings. But, I can have that tonight when I finish the huge serving. Great spot that I’ll come back to.
Living in the Midwest for years I had very high hopes for this bar and specifically the cheese curds. Sadly the cheese curds we got were over saturated in oil. Hopefully it was just a fluke. On the bright side the atmosphere is lovely.
First off I would like to say my overall experience was great , personable person ! Mac & Cheese was good a little disappointed on missing out the finishing touch of the oven on top. The 3 stars are due to the amount of food for the price of the item I had high hopes for when I had asked for a rueben sandwich I was told that that was not available was told a rueben pasty was available since I never tried a pasty! Before I jumped on it, while the inside flavor was fantastic and pasty also had great flavor, but the meat flavor was lost to the bread felt it was such a disservice to such a great idea , being a rueben sandwich seeker , a pound of meat is 15 to 20 dollars so not even having at least a half pound to taste it in every bite . I would love to try it again simply put some meat in it for the price
Great choices, fun midwestern menu, service could be better. Update: have come a few more times and it seems the service issue was an aberration. On the whole, great staff, great food, great beer selection. They have a cool thing with 10 categories of beer where they serve what they have in each category until it runs out and then move to the next. The menu forecasts what’s going to be on tap next for each category so you can see what’s coming. Also have a couple large fridge/display cases with a great selection that make Saraveza a well above average bottle shop on top of being a great bar.
Great people and amazing place. Ordered a poutine and it took about 40 mins on a Friday night. The poutine was good, a little too much gravy in my opinion but otherwise 9/10! The manager did apologies for the wait. Overall very happy I stopped there!
