If you are looking for actual barbecue and not baked meat, then this is the place for you!!! They have an old school offset smoker in the back and the smells in the parking lot are to die for. The food was truly amazing and the staff was very friendly and made you feel like you were visiting old friends. Everything we had was delicious, but the brisket was on point, the wings were perfect and the Mac n Cheese will make you slap yo mama!!! We stopped by on our way back from Arkansas to South Carolina and are already planning to go back just to eat here!
I will start by saying I wanted just a good old fashion hamburger and they did not disappoint. It was amazing. I opted for the garlic fries with it which wasn't bad by no means but was more than I was looking for. The banana pudding was amazing. The place was very clean, friendly staff, amazing food I will be honest and say I debated with giving four stars for the simple fact of the price which I find to be a little much for a combo and adding a dessert with it and paid like 23 dollars and some change. So just know it won't be cheap to eat there but the food was amazing though.
Classic downtown Birmingham stop has all sandwich combos you can think of in the bbq world. Chicken wings are scarce right now so no go on those today. But the pulled pork sammies were pretty good. The big boss pork sandwich with pickle, slaw, and pimento cheese with sweet potato fries was pretty good.
This was the perfect spot to experience what true southern Alabama hospitality and food is all about! I absolutely loved the Alabama white sauce, but if you're looking for something amazing, try the sausage hushpuppies. This hidden gem is the perfect hole in the wall must try! Amazing BBQ and family style atmosphere. I'll definitely be stopping here again on my way through town again.
Best fried chicken sandwich that I've ever had...ever. The Sweet Tea Fried Chicken Sandwich is worth driving across the country to eat. All of their other food is also top notch but that chicken sandwich is the best in the country and I have eaten a LOT of fried chicken sandwiches. Kid-friendliness: Lots of food for the kids. Parking: Ample parking.
Service was friendly and food came out quickly but the food was not as good as I remember Saw's in Avondale being. The greens were too sweet for my liking. The white BBQ sauce was bland. The pulled chicken, sweet tea and banana pudding was good. Parking: Limited parking. The lot was pretty rough.
Sweet tea chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and extra side of white sauce, you're welcome Exceptional service, and they quickly remember your name and face if you come in a few times. I don't eat at any other Saws bbq. Only issue is they are only open during lunch hours, so you have to get there at the right time.
The Colonel, the sweet tea fried chicken sandwich with tomato and pimento cheese, is ridiculously decadent, the chicken just melts in your mouth. Saw's barbecue, particularly the chicken and pulled pork, is consistently the best BBQ in town
Well, I was excited to finally try Saw’s but I won’t be going back. Not to this location anyway. We ordered and got our food to go. The salad picture below was $12. It had a great flavor, but virtually no lettuce and the “croutons” in the second picture were rock hard giant chunks of cornbread. My dog could not even break them apart and boy did she try. Disappointed in a local favorite.
"sweet tea" fried chicken sandwich was AMAZING - HOLY MOLY Forgot my fries, but the sandwich was so good that i didn't care Just the right amount of crispy to the skin, and the meat inside was juicy and tender. All around very flavorful and great mouth feel. Enjoyed with extra white bbq sauceDine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No
