This is our favorite Campground.  Unfortunately, lots of other people love it too.  More all the time.  Reservations are extremely important, as they have a full house every weekend at Smoky Mountain Campground.

Not crowded. Beautiful. If you like less crowded path and/or off trail hikes in wilderness, this place will make you happy

We are camped in the SRA area up the road from the Visitors Center. This has been the best 2 weeks of camping we've done. The hiking, the stars at night, the wildlife. . . it's perfect here.

I love the outdoors, and this place won't let you down. Good hiking. Closed gates to Redfish lake during winter months. You might check online to see when the gates open back up. I would guess around late April or into May. Everytime I have gone it has been free of litter, and there are services not to far away in Stanley, and at a small settlement towards Sun Valley.

If it is warm make a trip up to lake Cleveland. It is a gorgeous area and well worth the drive. Great for picnics and hiking. I also saw many people fishing if that's your thing. Also they have many campsites if you want to bring up a trailer or a tent.
