Grammy Award winning talent brings nationally renowned School of Rock to Montclair!
We believe the best way to learn music is to play music. We take students from the lesson room to the stage, developing both their confidence and musicianship with programs designed for all skill levels.
School of Rock teaches guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards, drums and combines weekly private music lessons and group band rehearsals to prepare students to take the stage in front of live audiences in an authentic concert setting.
To date our students have played thousands of concerts, to more than 100,000 people, at such legendary venues as CBGB's, The Trocadero, The Knitting Factory, The Whiskey, The Roxy, The Experience Music Project, The Big Easy and BB King's Blues Club in Times Square. We have also had the great fortune to be able to perform at music festivals from Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, to Zappanale in Bad Doberan, Germany.
For those of us who grew up taking music lessons, the experience was pretty much the same; we worked one-on-one with a teacher who pursued music as a side business or hobby and who taught us the fundamentals of our instrument. If we were interested in joining or forming a band, we needed to...

The School of Rock Montclair offers a new, engaging and exciting alternative to the established music lesson model:
Our teachers are all music professionals, including Grammy-winning musicians and producers who have worked with the world's top recording artists.
We offer music lessons (guitar, drums, keyboard, bass and vocals) that teach our students the fundamentals of their instruments, including how to read music and increase the complexity of the lessons as our students' skill level progresses.
We assemble students of common skill levels into bands and teach them how to interact, develop and build their sound.
We teach our students a repertoire of the most popular hit rock songs (the ones that they know from video games, movies and commercials) and include song instruction in their individual lessons.
THE PATH TO TAKE THE STAGE
All of our music programs are designed to inspire students to learn and develop a strong musical proficiency. At School of Rock Montclair, younger students who are not ready for a more comprehensive program like Rock 101 can start in Rookies. No prior musical experience is needed for Rookies. Once your child is ready for private music lessons (typically older than first or second graders), they will graduate into our Rock 101 program.
