Amazing place to visit. Add this place to your list of places to visit in DC. So much history and so many artifacts in this building. Not just about Scottish Rite but of the US as well. The tour guide, Lily, was knowledgeable about every room and almost every artifact. Whether or not you are a Mason or a Scottish Rite member you will learn something and see some one of a kind architecture!
Claire gave my husband a Mason and I serious appreciator of history a wonderfully thorough tour of the Temple. She answered all our questions to the best of her ability. The tour is amazing. I’m in awe of all artifacts they have and share with the public. The Pike exhibit is not to miss. My next favorite is the library. If you’ve not been here and have seen the Washington Masonic Memorial you must also visit this place as well.
Great tour, and our guide was very knowledgeable!! Loved seeing the historical books and objects! I would love to spend more time there!
Went inside this building with a friend last week, as we started the tour I started feeling a bit nauseated. Thinking it was just from the long car ride there, I tried to ignore it. But as the tour went on and we went into the chapel like area, it just got worse. I got this intuitive feeling that I needed to LEAVE. We left the building and started walking towards the park. I thought for sure I was going to get sick but I didn’t. I realized the further that we walked, the better I felt. There is definitely something spiritually dark about that place, that’s all I can say. The only reason I’m giving 5 stars is so more people can be warned.
This building is magnificent, absolutely stunning inside and out. A great free tour for anyone, I highly recommend you see it for yourself. Even if you are not affiliated with the Freemason's the history of the building and grandeur can't be beat. I was so surprised to learn so much about the building, what it holds and the people who have shaped it's history. Please, please, please don't pass this place by or take it for granted it's amazing to see in person. They do ask for no video taping inside but you are free to take pictures. I couldn't get enough of this place.
A great place to visit, whether you are a mason or not! An amazing landmark, with tons of great history, and an amazing collection of museum quality materials to see. Everything from an enormous Masonic penny collection to a portrait gallery of famous masons. And the LIBRARY. My gosh, just go for the library alone! It's amazing!
If you are in DC, you can't skip visiting this temple. Symbolism and energy flow in it walls. The guided tour explains you interesting things about Freemasonry and helps you to understand a little bit more about how the Supreme Council works. People in front desk were very friendly and helpful, ready to solve all your questions and requirements. If I return to DC, I'll visit you again.
Definitely a place to check out when you are in the Washington DC area. If you are interested in Scottish Rite Freemasonry, Freemasonry in general, or if you want to see the Fraternal accomplishments made by some of America’s most influential men then a visit to the Supreme Council won’t disappoint. Group tours are available for free.
One of the finest landmarks in DC to visit. Has one of the best public research libraries in the world.
I'm really honored to visit the Supreme Council, as I am from Taipei Bodies! They arranged a nice lady as my personal guide and she could even speak mandarin! Really enjoyed my 2 hours tour!
