My experience as a handicapped person stooped to an all-time low when I went to Seabra foods yesterday when trying to park in at their supermarket. I was on my way to visiting two medical doctors offices in that complex. There was a Seabra branded van parked in a convenient spot close to the building. I waited for it to leave and started to pull into this spot when a Seabra employee put a traffic cone at the spot to stop my entry. I stepped out of my car and asked him to remove the cone and he told me that this was his store's spot and I cannot park there. I told him that what he did was illegal and discriminatory, and he didn't care. He said I needed to speak with the manager who walked over, and he told me I can take the empty spot after he did some business at the store. I told him to remove the cone at once, and he refused. I then found another parking spot farther away which made me walk a longer distance away. I then looked back at Seabra's 'reserved' spot only find a white BMW SUV that was told to me belonged to the manager parked in the spot. This was less than poor behavior and discriminatory. As a handicapped person I have the right to park in any standard or handicapped designated spot. The Seabra supermarket does not have the legal right to designate any parking spot in their lot exclusively for themselves. I am a reasonable person, and if I saw a truck parked in this spot loading or unloading, it would be a different situation and totally understandable. I have taken two pictures. One of the empty spot and the other picture with the man in the yellow vest who stated he was the manager. The fellow dressed in back was the person whom I had the confrontation with. I will passing this information on the State on Jersey for their review. What happened to me should not happen to any other person who is handicapped.
One of the best international supermarkets ever. I don't come here often because of the distance. But i was in the neighborhood and I was not going to leave without stopping by. Love their desserts. Always fresh.
Great place to grab groceries, especially if you're looking for South American items. The fresh produce and reasonable prices make this a highly recommended stop for anyone in need of provisions.
Everything was fine till I got to the register to pay and a big guy was standing behind me. To make the story short that was store directive thinking I don't know what. To the point I was feeling very uncomfortable and had to say something to him and he moved away. I was there with my mother a 75 yr old lady and she noticed the big guy in my back. The said part is I'm a off duty Law Enforcement Officer and I was carrying my off duty weapon and the "Big Guy" did not notice it!! I understand they are doing a job but not in that aggressive manner. They make it so obvious to the customers that they are watching the store and I felt intimidated by this big guy. They should definitely receive some kind of training as a resolution to this matter it is very serious.
If only I could give zero stars, I would. Incompetent management and rip-off cashiers. Went there for two days in a row and they made the same mistake. On the first day, they tried to charge me 8.99$ for a small bag of cherry tomatoes whose value is 1.99$. On the second day, they charged me 5.99 for a bag of cereal that was on sale for 3.99$. The guy, responsible to help the cashiers, and checking the prices, is completely unaware of the surrounding. He is unprofessional, rude, and useless. Never again.
Security from this store is really rude and does not know how yo approach people. He searched my brother book bag as if he stole something. My bro told me they do it to his friends too like seriously . The manager needs to fix this. And the cashiers are horrible they always have a dirty look on + foods are expired
I used to come here often to buy my groceries. Last month, to my misfortune, I was checking the eggs when a rat ran past me. It missed me by only an inch and crawled underneath the fridge. I have not been back since. My partner notified the workers and we left promptly after paying for our things. I am saddened by this discovery because I live in Newark and now I don't trust any other Seabra's.
Prices are way too high even before prices going up. Last time I went here there were lost of rotting produce. We only go here to get things that we absolutely can't find somewhere else or in a pinch.
Clean and fresh meats and bakery
The location is nice. The store has lot of items. The issue that I faced and made me stop going there is the very rude, terrible treatment full of hate from 2 employees working there: a Spanish speaking girl and a black guy whom I knew later was a manager himself. The 1st bad time was with the girl. I was trying to get my items checked to pay and leave. The way she did that was very bad as if she was trying to tell me to get my self out of the store and never come back again. The 2nd time was with the black guy. He was so rude and the way he scanned my items and bagged was unbelievable. He put in a hyper, nasty way worse than that girl. After I paid, be took the shopping basket and threw it in the floor in a very aggressive way. The same time, that girl came and both started looking at me, laughing and talking badly about me in Spanish. I knew and felt that time that I was totally discriminated badly because of my national origin. I called the number in the receipt for complaint. I was assured that such a treatment won't happen again. I came later by night, I saw the black guy with another Spanish speaking short girl with glasses and asked for the manager. She answered me that the black guy with her was the manager. When I asked him about his supervisor or any other one to talk to that time, he said that only him is available and asked me for the reason. I told him that I wanna complain about him and that is why I needed to talk to someone else and what time they are about to be in the store in the next morning . He didn't feel comfortable when didn't wanna inform me. When I asked him about his name to complain to his supervisors, he became very angry and said: why should I tell you my name? I left without talking, at the same time he told me when I left him: what the f...k are you gonna do? I got completely shocked by his behaviors. I asked one young Spanish speaking bearded guy named Nicholas about the name of that black guy and his supervisor to come complain the following day. He told me that the black guy is named Chalton. Honestly, Nicholas was a professional nice person who truly apologized for me about the terrible discriminating treatment I received from both: that Spanish speaking girl and the black guy named Chalton. I didn't show up due to busy schedule. I tried to call the headquarters or anyone else but I felt that my complaint might reach nowhere. It's been over 2 months that I stopped going there because the bad treatment and discrimination you might faced there is unbelievable. Shame and disgrace.
