Second Chance Dog Rescue of Iowa

We had to part with a puppy that we got from a family, we took him here in hopes of him finding a new home. I was very sad to part with him, but it did help once I got here and saw that the dogs are not kept in kennels or cages but are allowed to run around and play with other dogs and interact with the volunteers. Our puppy was nervous and the staff took the time to let me also helped introduce him to the other dogs. Great people and a great place! We plan on going back to volunteer as a family at some point :-)

I foster dogs from Second Chance. I have been so impressed every time I go out to the shelter because it is so clean and no dogs are in any small cages. They can run around and play with all the toys inside or outside. Plus, the dogs are all allowed in the office which has beds and toys for them in addition to people who will love on them. There are always volunteers present to play with or work with the dogs and help keep the place clean. I'm impressed with Denise (shelter owner) and her wonderful husband, Rick. They are always quite busy with the shelter and work super hard at getting dogs matched with forever families.

Great place to adopt a new family member. Staff are very knowledgeable about all the dogs. The place is clean and well kept.

Recently volunteered here and was impressed with the facility, cleanliness and most importantly care for the dogs. Happy to continue to help this rescue with my time and donation.
