Our move with Security Storage & Van was executed flawlessly. We were kept informed of scheduled pick up and deleviery. Both happened as scheduled. Our possessions were handled with care. Pick up and delivery was completed without delays. The entire team made the move our most stress free move ever. We have moved 6 times over the years, this team was by far the best!
Pretty much brand new, opened no later than a couple of months ago. The spaces are clean and the storage units are all air conditioned and moisture controlled to keep your belongings cool and dry. On the weekend things can be busy but not frustrating. If you are moving a large amount of things, table carts are available for any customer to use however, you may have to wait to get one since there is only 5/6. Overall, at this location its a good quality buisness/company.
They were hired to do our military move. Packers were very detailed oriented and quick. Loader seemed to do a phenomenal loading our crates. We haven't received them yet so we shall see.
Clark I agree with you 100%. I hired Security Storage and Van co. of Norfolk a subcontractor of Allied international for an international move from Virginia Beach to Portugal. My sales person Joyce Ortman of Security Storage and Van co.told me and my husband that some liquids, six one gallon bottles of Franks red hot sauce would be ok to take due to it was non-perishable food item even though the import regulation for Portugal states no food items, Mrs. Ortman stated that regulation was out-dated .Security Storage and Van co. came out did the packing, packed the liquids and even labeled if on the box. They even used Homedepot and Lowe's boxes instead of packing company boxes. My shipping container was red flagged by U.S.Customs in Norfolk 1st. for the liquids 2nd. for the use of Homedepot and Lowe's boxes. Due to these two red flags my contain occurred an intensive inspection which costed me $5298.00 in demurrage fees and inspection cost.Security Storage and Van co. of Norfolk has denied that they are responsible and that Joyce Ortman said that liquids are not allowed and would never be packed. I have emails from Mrs,Ortman showing that she was very confused and uninformed on international custom requirements.I also have emails of Security Storage and Van co. stating that they are trained in "not packing liquids" which they clearly did and even labeled it on the box. They also state in an email that the Homedepot and Lowe's boxes were customer provided which is not correct. I have emails from Security Storage and Van co. of them not knowing what happened to my shipping container and that I was the one who contacted U.S.Customes and found out what was going on. I have talked to the manager/owner of Security Storage and Van co. Norfolk Mr.Flip Aspinwall who is not interested in resolving this issue, THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN PAID,THEY CARELESS. I even talked to Allied International who is saying it's Security Storage and Van co. Norfolk issue even though they are a subcontractor of Allied. There is so much more to say but I'm limited. Just beware of these two companies especially Joyce Ortman of Security Storage and Van co. Norfolk
Do not use this company!! Was mislead about several things in the move. Company only cares about getting a contract does not care about customer. Our rep. did not know what they were doing, did not have knowledge of a lot of questions. cost us several thousand dollars in customs issues due to packing
They did our military move. Multiple items were damaged and lost. My wife's wedding dress was packed up at origin and never arrived at the destination. My wife is devastated.
Allied Van Lines conducted our moves from Boston to Minnesota then from Minnesota to Virginia and were outstanding and very honest, sadly Security Storage and Van company were the absolute opposite. The French relocation team were up to Allied's usual high standard and apologized for the worst packing job they had ever seen, including those done by third world companies. Absolutely all our furniture and belongings were severely damaged by the unprofessional team who charged us for mattress and boxspring cartons but then had the packers wrap them in plastic and folded in half, see photo two. Even though we paid for wardrobe cartons for our clothes to be hung they were thrown in boxes with hangers and ruined. The furniture was inadequately covered and not secured for transit so everything was tossed around as in a washing machine gouging the wood and ripping the fabric. They even managed to get oil on the velvet wing-backed chairs. Allied Van Lines is trying to rectify the damage but it is an impossible task. The Department of Transportation, together with all regulating State and Federal Agencies are reviewing the case but suggested a lawsuit as we were charged for items and professional services we never received like a shuttle when everything was just thrown into one small truck ruining the furniture, plus several items are missing. Containers were given two numbers so that they could be counted twice. The company advertises services for seniors but this is a clear case of senior abuse as I had difficulty walking at the time and it was assumed that we would not notice that the china, clothes, paintings etc. were not packed in the cartons we ordered and paid for. Cartons were stuffed with paper and filled with old items the packers must have searched the house to find and were not told to pack, to create volume and charge more. The international paperwork provided incorrect information so shortly before our furniture was about to arrive in France we were informed we needed a certificate of residence from the French Embassy in Washington. A minimum of two weeks is required by any Embassy for international paperwork so we were unnecessarily charged customs and tax because of Security Storage and Van Company's incompetence . So if you want a huge bill, a U shaped mattress and destroyed furniture and clothing this is the company for you. My husband is a Veteran and Security Storage and Van Company should be ashamed to treat Veterans this way.
