The idea of helping the bereaved families is still as important as it was back in 1939. The caring and professionalism still exists after 3 generations and over 70 years of community service.
My Dad, Anthony D'Angelo founded D'Angelo Funeral Home Inc. in 1939. It was located on Montrose Avenue in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. The area was made up of Jewish and Italian immigrants from the turn of the century. Dad was very involved in the community and helped families get a good start. He was very popular and the business continued to grow through dedication and hard work.
As the families prospered they needed larger living quarters. Hence, the American Dream. Buy your own home in Queens or Nassau County. Dad went along with the curve and bought Seneca Chapels in Ridgewood, Queens in 1965. He closed the Montrose Avenue location and devoted all his time and attention to the new location. After a few years he retired and kept the business in the family. It is currently run by his son, Robert and grandson, Anthony. The building has been completely remodeled and renovated with parking facilities.
