Everyone was really kind to me and my wife and really took care of us. I was in for surgery on my knee, which was injured in a workers comp situation. They did a great job making sure we were cared for and making sure we understood what to do after the operation. They also made sure we had what needed too
The hospital itself was pretty good, everyone was nice and surgery went fast, however Dr Hellman who did my hip replacement was arrogant and did not seem to care about the patient as much as the opinion of workers comp. As soon as he found out there was a workers comp lawer he dropped me immediately, saying that's as good as it gets.. I've since tried to call his office with no return call. Definitely a workers comp doctor in my opinion. I do not recommend this doctor!
They were quick to get me back and to get the care I needed. Though they had a slight system issue while checking me in they had warned me about it and helped me work through it. Front desk staff and everyone I worked with were great and I was in and out in under 2 hours for urgent care.
I am starting to feel like Orthro-Indy care when it comes down to work related injuries cares more about the relationship with the insurance company than the patient. I have had two surgeries at Orthroindy here in Indianapolis Indiana. Both surgeries consisted of torn ligaments in both elbows, the right elbow I believe I have recovered over 90%., Though the left I have experienced complications which are reported and documented, it was ignored. I received the second medical opinion about my left elbow that it needed to be corrected, as well as a correction to compressed, nerve and left forearm due to first surgery. I was told that a simple nerve test could’ve been performed and it would’ve been discovered that I had nerve damage in my left arm due to surgery. These surgeries were work related injuries and I believe my concerns were ignored and overlooked because of relationship with orthoindy and work comp insurance companies. And due to ortho doctor clearing for work I was re-injured before the medical board doctor opinion stated the facts that I should have not retired to work. Now with new injury SI joint and back at orthindy the work comp had denied and delay medical treatment and approval., and ortho Indy has not taken this into account and has yet again tried to write me off to please the work comp insurance company even after the records shows that I have not been properly treated for a little of a year.
I have put off getting my rotator cuff/torn labrum surgery for about 10 years because of lack of trust in surgeonsand fear of recovery. I even explored one of the non surgical "Regenerative" treatments you hear on the radio but after they told me they do not do MRI's and that "they just shoot the treatment in and it knows how to find and fix the damage" I went back to my family doctor and told him I wanted an MRI. He told me that the damage was much to bad for the "Regenerative" treatment and would have been a waste of $8,000 cash they wanted because insurance does not cover. He suggested I go to his surgery center but I have always heard great things about OrthoIndy and decided to look into them. I soon learned that Dr. Stephen Kollias was a shoulder specialist there. A little background on him was that 30 years ago he saved my leg after a horrible motorcycle accident while a resident at the local state run hospital. It was questionable if my leg would be savable but he worked for hours on a Friday night on a broke kids leg and thankfully today I can run with the best and only have scaring from accident. I knew who was going to do my surgery once I saw his name. From the word go Dr. Kollias will talk to you in terms you can understand and not talk over your head. Very down to earth. I must say I had a speedy recoverysometimes he had to scold me for getting to over zealous. I can now reach high shelves again and not have to modify my daily activity. I highly suggest Dr. Kollias and I am not one to frivolously give recommendations.
Dr. Rougraff saved my leg after a bone cancer diagnosis. I've had 2 surgeries at this hospital and the first was an extremely intense operation, that took a very long time to heal and dr. Rougraff and his team were so kind and compassionate to me and they were with me every step of the way. Also dr. Smitka did a great nerve block. Would recommend for anyone with ortho problems, and especially if you're looking for an orthopedic oncologist.
Great example of everything wrong with healthcare in America. Never ending bureaucracy, expensive, a robotic staff, and each different basic medical procedure requires a new appointment and more money. Wouldn't recommend, a great waste of time and money.
Dr. Berrios is great but the appointment scheduling and interminable wait from one waiting room to another waiting room to another is just ridiculous. Plus they require you to be there half hour early, just in case you planned something with your day. Sadists. The short, squatty, seems like Hispanic no one wears nametags in case you can identify them woman at reception is the rudest of them all. AVOID.
Very disappointed with a full knee replacement that my wife had. She has had nothing but problems since the surgery and all Dr. Hupfer could tell her on her 1year anniversary of the surgery is that there’s nothing more he can do for her.
I had several disks removed. Beyond the bad disks, I was a healthy man. By the time I recovered from the surgery2 yrs I had a heart attack, I became a type 2 diabetic, my cholesterol was off the charts, and I have been on pain meds every day since. Think hard before you allow them to cut on you, they have destroyed my quality of life. 1 year have heard nothing from them! Imagine that. What can you say to someone you have destroyed their health? It would be nice if you at least acted as if you cared! They don't, do not allow them to touch you, you might be next. What is talking going to do? The damage has already been done. What reason could I possibly have to want to discuss what you have done to me? Is that going to repair the damage, is that going to help with the nerve damage or the pain that I live with everyday? Is the talk going to repair what you did so I can get back to work and be able to take care of my family. NO it won't! At least 716 people have been told about you.
