Fantastic experience with Mia Paige and Ms. Desiree. I have used HR Block in my home state non Tx over a decade and pleased with continued great tax care here. They figured out something I never would have on my own. Thank you for the skill and patience.
This was my first time using HR block as a young adult and I don’t know where to start. I had an appointment set at 1 PM that I reserved a week before and I waited over 30 minutes. Do not bother making an appointment because a couple who was a walk in was seen before I was. However, the woman I met with was Desiree and she was very helpful and kind. It was $235 in cost to have her do it instead of the advertised price of $95 so I was a bit confused on the big price difference.
The whole process other than my preparer was horrible. Brought my documents in 3 weeks as a drop off. One week later I returned to find My Documents in the same drawer as when I left one week before. Worst experience I have ever had with a big brand name. And believe me I've had quite a few of those. The fact that I'm even posting this review should let you know how disappointed I am in HR Block and want everyone else to beware if they file their taxes with them. You have been warned.
Mariah Paige was amazing! Very friendly, and helpful. Highly recommend her if your struggling and exhausted with doing your taxes. She was fast and efficient.
The process was very slow. I began end of January and only filed 4/12. I was kept on calls for over an hour sometimes without prior scheduling. She would call on Sundays when I’m unavailable and I would call back during the week and not be able to get a hold of her or anyone. She couldn’t provide an estimate when I asked for service cost so I could prepare. In the end it ended up being over $300 and even though I was getting a refund they wouldn’t take it from that so I had to pay out of pocket. Someone else called me since my “pro” hadn’t responded to my in app chats and voicemails and didn’t have a clue about my case. She tried to say I was unresponsive to messages that I sent and when I asked about my filing she admitted to not reviewing it before calling me. Everything was just so unprofessional, drawn out and frustrating based on what I ultimately paid on top of the $300
This location has successfully doing our taxes for many years. Our preparer, who we have used for several years, is friendly, polite, professional and very knowledgeable. We will continue to to use HR in the years to come.
When you schedule time for people to do their taxes, stick to it. Because if people were late, I'm sure their appointments will get canceled or be charged a fee. So you guys hold yourself accountable and respect people's time. Also paid Almost $300. The Lady who helped me was very kind and patient!
The Sheppard office is where H & R block makes their name . If you want friendly, fast service. From people who like their job. Start with Mr gillham. Leslie was amazing as well. She was a awesome front desk woman . Thank you for helping, when lots of people turned their back on me. Promote prayer, mediation, persistence, consistency, perseverance, resilience, and all natural. With herb's and over the counter medicine. Let's go.
Melissa Melissa Melissa… I should write a song. She is so helpful, so patient.. answers all of your questions. She knows so much about taxes. She gives you realistic expectations. Worth every minute and dollar spent. She is a tax hero. She is the wind beneath my wings. Thank you!
Absolute nightmare. DO NOT come here if you are anything other than a W-2, because that is all they know how do to taxes for. Went online and opted to pay more for a tax expert to prepare my taxes for me, uploaded the documents Identification, 1099-NEC, + Business Expenses, and voila. Then I get a call from my nearest HR Block this one, and the tax preparer asks me simple questions, which is fine, all is well. Then I get another call, and then another call, and then another call. Clearly she had never dealt with self-employment taxes beforehand so she was asking ME tax-related questions that I had no idea how to answer. You'd think I paid extra for a "tax expert" to do most of it for me, but this was not the case. I got so frustrated that I tried to call HR Block Customer Service to request a new tax preparer since I originally filed online, and I experienced a merry-go-round of being transferred to every HR Block service center Online/Retail/Customer Service/Etc, because not a single one thought it was their responsibility to help me find a different tax preparer. So I gave up. I tried calling THIS HR Block back, but turns out if they don't answer, it loops you to another HR Block around Houston, which isn't very helpful if you were already working with someone. So the only quick way to reach them, is if they call you themselves. Finally, the cherry on top- I get a hold of their office and my tax preparer wants me to speak to her MANAGER because she is unsure of what to do. The Manager greets me and tells me "Sorry, you are not able to file business expenses because you are not a business." And I tell him nicely that ALL self-employed individuals are allowed to file expenses because we are in-fact, our own business. He follows with [verbatim] "Yes, you are self-employed, but you still work for someone. So you can't have business expenses. It's the law." I quite literally paused for a few seconds because I couldn't believe I ever trusted these people to handle my taxes for me. In the end I told them forget it. I will do it myself online through TurboTax. Which I did, and it was easy as pie, and oh yeah! They let me file business expenses. Thanks for nothing with a heaping side of frustration, HR Block.
