Heather is a wonderful—knowledgeable, supportive and thoughtful. She does nothing by rote but instead approaches you as an individual. Plus, she’s fun to talk to. Shift is also a great place. Very low key and comfortable, with a friendly, attentive staff and, most importantly, close adherence to COVID protocols. I couldn’t be more pleased and, frankly, surprised. I have been to a lot of PT in my life, and Shift/Heather is at the top of my list.
Heather is a wonderful therapist. As I have many prosthetic devices, she knows exactly on what to concentrate without causing pain. She demonstrates everything and is a warm and empathic woman.
Always such a pleasure to work with Heather. She is clearly highly competent and knowledgeable, which she shares in a generous and understandable way. Her work has made a big difference for me. A great PT.
I can’t overstate how amazing Heather is — she’s phenomenally knowledgeable, very perceptive, and a great judge of what level to work at to let you make best progress without going too fast or finding the work unpleasant. I first went to her with a very serious herniated disk — so bad I had to lie in bed all the time and not even sit up to eat. Doctors thought it required pain shots and possibly surgery, but thanks to Heather’s astute recommendations about how to position myself when lying down to cause the herniation to resolve itself, and exercises that effectively addressed the many knock-on nerve irritation problems, within a couple of weeks I was much better and within a couple of months the problem was entirely gone — without any of the medical interventions. But most importantly, Heather taught me how my previous posture and work habits had made me susceptible to the original disk problem and helped me correct them. With astonishingly easy but precise and targeted muscle training I have not had any problems since. That was so helpful, I asked her about a long-standing rotator-cuff / tendonitis problem, which in a similar way she astutely diagnosed and taught me other simple exercises to solve. Its alarming as you get older, to discover how many things are off-kilter in your habits, but which actually can be largely fixed by targeted corrections to how you use your body and creating subtle core muscle strength that makes everything function better and avoid injuries. With an outstanding physical therapist to diagnose and create a program. I’m so grateful to have found Heather. Now I am lucky to be able to have her in the role of “PT2" — physical therapy and personal training — shifting emphasis between them as the need arises. She’s also expert in yoga, and helps me fine-tune my Iyengar yoga practice and strengthen muscles in a targeted way to be able to do certain asanas more easily and without injury. I can’t recommend her strongly enough… And she’s an extremely nice person!
Excellent training, mostly Pilates, with Heather. I go once a week. She varies the exercises, explains the benefits of each, challenges me but considers my weaknesses. As a 87-year old, I feel much stronger, thanks to Heather Mims.
My husband Bob thinks you are terrific. You have extensive knowledge of the body. You have a very pleasant demeanor. He would reccommend Heather to anyone.
Heather is a thoughtful, patient and generous practitioner. I felt lucky to be in her care.
Therapist pays attention to detail and gradually builds up strength Instructions are very clear. use of the Pilates Machine is especially Good.
I like Heather Mims. She is a very good therapist and a very caring person.
Great for my daughter to see Heather. She felt better afterward and really trusts her.
