I went to check this place out. All the red flags in my fairly experienced martial arts mind were going off. He was advertising gold he sells on the walls of the dojo..what kind of martial arts instructor does this? He's got no real accomplishments or major afilliations with any mainstream groups. And what got me was his attitude. I went in there and found him staring a hole through me. Then he wants to know all about me. Why am I interested? Do I have injuries? Thought I was supposed to be checking him out. Treated his students like minions. One girl tells him she didn't get a move he says just keep practicing. Seemed quite arrogant and unfriendly. His students forms were bad and uncorrected and his not much better. I wouldn't give him $75/ mo. Sure he's probably an ok guy and probably not fake. But about as mediocre as it gets. There's plenty of other jujitsu groups around town: Gracie jujitsu, the temple in Sparks, aikijutsu. I'd check them out before signing up here.

I highly recommend the Shin Gan Dojo to anyone who has an interest in learning martial arts!
Classes are fun and help you grow physically, spiritually, and mentally to become a complete martial artist. Sensei Brian Simmons has an extensive knowledge of martial arts with over 20 years of experience and is extremely patient and helpful.
It is also awesome to study a martial art which has so many elements to it including, striking, ground fighting, throws, joint locks, a myriad of weapons, disarming techniques, break falls and rolls…
I have been training regularly since the summer of 2012 and I look forward to attending class every single time!
