Ship Tavern is a staple dive bar and hotel bar. I love it. It’s has a casual, indie vibe, and the food is great. I got the onion soup, which was small, but great. And a spicy mango cocktail. So much style here!Food: 4/5
No wreckage here. This was a fun little place we randomly came across. It’s attached to a hotel. But completely independent on its own. The whole restaurant is almost like the inside of a ship. Service was great. Everybody was kind. Really good ambience inside of the place. Not over packed. Food is really good and delivered, looking great also. The place seems to have more of a historical feel to it. Waiter told us they are known for the prime rib. We did not have that. Would go back to try the prime rib.
This hotel and restaurant/bar are the epitome of Denver history. When you walk into the lobby, you feel as if you’ve gone back 130 years. the hotel has hosted presidents from Taft to Regan and Clinton, and musicians that included the Beatles, Springsteen, and Taylor Swift. The Ship Tavern feels very classic and old-school. And the story of how it came to be in the 1930s is a great one. we were there on a Thursday night. We had a reservation, but could have walked in if we didn’t have one. The cocktails were very nice and not outrageously priced. Our entrées were the Caesar salad with salmon and the 12 oz prime rib 16 and 20 oz are available. The salad was very good and the seafood was fresh. The prime rib was a solid. The portion was generous, and it was seasoned very nicely. But it could have been just a little warmer. The service was unobtrusive, but very friendly and they responded quickly to a raised hand. The prices were on the higher side for what you got, but remember that this is a hotel/urban resort property. It may not be the best choice if you want a gourmet experience or a bargain, but if you’re looking for a solid meal and really wonderful atmosphere, this is the place.
This was a very cool restaurant/bar in the historic Brown Palace Hotel. Service was great, food was wonderful and the overall theme and feel of this historic place was awesome. May have to visit again this week while here for a convention. Bring an appetite if you order the amazing Prime Rib.Food: 5/5
Husband and I just went for drinks. The decor is old and dusty. Service is great drinks are pretty good. Old fashioned with whistle pig was amazing!Service: 5/5
Great atmosphere and delicious food. The steak salad was fantastic. The steak was cooked well and paired nicely with the tomatoes and corn. I would have loved two charred jalapeños on the side of the salad, but only because they were that good.Food: 5/5
Our server was nice but the food was mediocre. The tavern has seen better days. Not worth it with so many other options in the area. I had the half and half for lunch with a cold ? pastrami and cheese sandwich and the wedge salad. The pickle was the best part of the plate. I do not recommend. My husband had the Greek salad with chicken which was fine but not great. Too kitchy without the charm.
The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The food was amazing and had unique flavors.Food: 5/5
