The staff were very friendly. They really seem to care for the customers. The food was average to mediocre. Most items were bland. The only lettuce they had on the salad bar was iceberg lettuce. Good value for the money though. You won't go away hungry. Parking: Large parking lot. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to maneuver into building.
We had our Thanksgiving dinner here and it was absolutely wonderful! They had a wide variety in meat & sides. They offered a real sliced turkey and also processed turkey. They said customer's preferred both. I prefer processed and my husband prefers real sliced. The had a beautiful smoked apple ham. Fried chicken, country fried steak, spaghetti & meatballs. Stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, creamed corn, Mac and cheese, cabbage, and so much more. If people left hungry, I couldn't understand that! They had their beautiful salad & fruit bar & pumpkin pie. Nothing at all to complain about at all!! This is the first time David, Olivia, I have gotten to visit since before COVID and we weren't disappointed at all. I think the price was appropriate per person and we were happy to find Shoney's was open and not just 2 other restaurants further away that was serving no variety. Thank you so much Kanawha BLVD Shoney's for always being delicious and there!
Service waitress was great, restaurant was clean. The restaurant was definitely a family atmosphere, which was great because we had our 3 young children with us! Every time I went to the bar, there were more and more empty pans of food. Not sure if that’s because they were switching to dinner or what, but it was only 2pm Recommended dishesBreakfast Buffet, Hot Fudge Cake, Salad Bar
Terrible, terrible food. I hadn't eaten at a Shoney's for a long time, so decided to give it a try, since it was very near to the Tesla charger I was using. Ugh!! Big mistake!! They only offer a few "fresh" sandwiches and push their all you can eat buffet as their primary offering. They don't even bother with having a menu, that's how strong they push the buffet. The quality of the foods offered was quite low, everything I tried was overly breaded, over cooked and overly sweet or salted. Haven't had a bad experience like this in some time. I guess when I saw Southern Cooking I was hopeful it would be more like Cracker Barrel which I love!. Honestly, given the choice between another Shoney's experience and grabbing something off the roller grill at a gas station, the roller grill will win every time! Even the atmosphere here was dark, old and stale. And the cost wasn't even extraordinarily low. The staff was the only redeeming quality this Shoney's had. Very nice and friendly, but their only real role is to take away your dirty plates and bring drinks. I can't remember the last time I walked away from an all you can eat buffet hungry. I just couldn't find a single item on the buffet that was in any way satisfying. I stopped at a gas station on the way out of town and picked up a bag of Doritos. Shoney's truly was that bad...
The server tried. The buffet was awful. The hot food was cold. The salad bar was fresh, but the salad dressing was watered down. Literally, no taste it was so watered down. The server knew were not satisfied with the food left on our plates. It was inedible. The restaurant is in desperate need of attention. It was awful. $31 laterthe adjusted bill and her tip it wasn't her fault It was so bad.
The lady’s bathroom sinks like sewer and you can smell it in the dining room. We was seated and waiting 20 mins before anyone even noticed we was sitting here. But the Waitress said they was taking turns but it wasn’t her turn but she helped anyways and was very friendly. Food is alright
They had no menus. The waitress told what Sandwiches they offered so fast one couldn't understand. The food bar was limited to mostly sea food, goulash, spaghetti, some kind of meat, mashed potatoes, macaroni, and cheese. The food bar was pretty much the only option. Tried to charge for the whole food bar when all I had was a salad. Grandkids did get to eat for free, which was good considering all they liked was the fruit.
Admittedly, I haven't been to a Shoney's in quite some time, so my memory is being tested. That being said, this visit was disappointing, at least for the breakfast buffet. We were on the late side, for breakfast; that may have have been an issue, but it shouldn't matter. All of the items were plentiful and the buffet was and the facilities were clean. The service was good. Next time, I believe I'll order from the menu. Kid-friendliness: Children were present, high chairs were clean & available. Parking: Plentiful parking spots, including wheelchair accessible spaces. Wheelchair accessibility: See above Dietary restrictions: See the menu.
Ate here a month ago and had burgers, they were amazing, not this time, ordered the all day breakfast buffet, and at 430 pm I think the food had been there all day, hard biscuits, cold gray cold eggs, hospital cafeteria food at its worst. Will not be back, 17 dollars a person, could have eaten at Texas Roadhouse and had steaks and baked potatoes. Note to self.
All the staff is so friendly. Calvin, the gentleman who waited our table gave us the best service we've ever received. He knows how to interact with people and make them feel at home. I would definitely recommend checking this shoneys out!
