I bought a vintage designer wedding dress for my big day, and took it to shop boy for alterations. From start to finish 2 fittings, working with them on this very unique and special piece has been a truly wonderful experience. Because it was such a special piece, I’m incredibly grateful for the attention to detail and craftsmanship shown by their team. They are experts and have my utmost trust for any/all tailoring needs.
I’m so grateful to Alexander and the Shopboy team for their work on my wedding dress! It required significant alterations, and they were so communicative and helpful throughout the process 3 fittings. The store is such a nice vibe with great lighting, and every member of the team was so gentle, calm, friendly and competent.
I took an overcoat to Shopboy to have adjusted and I'm overjoyed with the results. As someone that's familiar with alterations from having worked at brands such as Tom Ford and Prada, I appreciate the great detail taken to get this jacket how I wanted. The staff was great and I'll be certainly go back for all my tailoring needs!
These guy did an awesome job on my pants. Alexander was great, conversational, knowledgeable and kept me updated on the progress they were making with the pants. They even finished in the time he told me they would finish. The alteration was to take out some of the waist so I can fit the pants and it came out great. It even looks like it was apart of the design so that’s a plus. Thanks for alterations I’ll definitely be coming back.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE! I took my wedding dress to Shopboy for alterations based on the reviews and it was a horrible experience from both a craftsmanship and customer service standpoint. 1. Unskilled or lazy Master Tailor: The most egregious and obvious example of poor craftsmanship was the hemming job. I asked them to shorten the dress by a few inches. When I went back for my fitting, I tried on the dress and noticed that the hem looked wonky and uneven. The receptionist assured me that it was good and the dress just needed to be steamed. I took their word for it so they took the dress, steamed it and bagged it up. When I got home, I tried the dress on again and the hem still looked weird. I flipped the dress inside out and noticed it was a complete hack job. Instead of cutting the inside layer to the right length, the Master Tailor folded a section of the fabric and put a thread through it to shorten it see photos. I could've done this myself at home instead of paying $250. 2. Poor customer service: - When I reached out to the owner, Desmond, he wouldn't acknowledge that it was a bad hemming job and said he stood by his tailor's work. And then followed up with, "I spoke with our master tailor and he confirmed that the hem was cut and finished to the original design. The issue he fixed in the shop, by hand stitching, was because the tulle was originally too long for the fabric. This was not an issue you could see before we hemmed the dress because the dress was so long." Isn't it a tailor's job to cut fabric to the right length if it's too long?! For $250, I would assume yes. I can 100% guarantee that his hack job hand stitching was NOT the original design of the dress. - Desmond refused to give me a refund so I agreed to come back because I didn't want to spend additional hundreds of dollars elsewhere. He said he would be there to talk about the issue along with the master tailor, but on our scheduled date, Desmond didn't show up. The Master Tailor said he ONLY spoke Spanish and none of the other employees in the store spoke Spanish so no one could help me communicate with the tailor. I tried to use my very rusty and broken Spanish, but had super low confidence in the job because the Tailor had such a condescending "what's your problem? we can fix it?" attitude the whole time and refused to acknowledge the issue. The only thing that helped was that the other tailor in the shop saw the issue and tried to help the Master Tailor understand what he did wrong. I ended up going back a couple more times until the job was satisfactory. I wasn't upset that it wasn't done correctly the first or second time, but ultimately I was really upset that both Desmond and the Master Tailor were really unpleasant when confronted with the issue and refused to acknowledge that it was a poor job. I honestly would've had more confidence in them if they admitted that it was bad, but how can you trust someone to fix something if they don't even see or acknowledge the problem?
I had a great experience taking my engagement shoot dress to get tailored at Shopboy. After I was somewhat dissatisfied with the initial alterations likely due to a miscommunication on my part during the fitting, Alexander was super flexible and offered to make additional changes at no cost. Ultimately, I am really happy with how my dress turned out and will be coming back here anytime I have something that needs tailoring. Also, the shop is cute and vibey, which is a plus!
Excellent service and work! Thank you Alexander and the shopboy team for helping with all of the different wedding outfit alterations. Highly recommend!
Sent a vintage jacket to be repaired and they did a great job. Also, have had a couple pants hemmed and also, great work. They are flexible and and customer service and quality was A1.
Excellent craftsmanship! These artisans tailored my items incredibly well. Matched by the white glove customer service. They even worked with me to expedite delivery of some items that I needed for a very important multi day event. I’m still receiving complaints on my ensemble.Services: Custom tailoring
HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. My wife took her wedding dress to Shopboy for alterations before our big day. While I am no expert on dress alternations, I know a thing or two about customer service and Shopboy's manager, Desmond, treated my wife horribly. To start, he gaslighted her, refusing to acknowledge the shoddy job his team has done with simple hemming. Instead of acknowledgment, Desmond offered my wife no choice but to come to the shop again, while he and his master tailor are around, for another round of alteration. The scheduled time, my wife and I showed up to find that Desmond did not show up and his master tailor spoke only Spanish. The rest of the staff, you might already have guested, spoke no Spanish. It was infuriating seeing my wife point out, in her broken Spanish, the issues in their work to a staff trained to deny any quality issues. I have rarely seen my wife so stressed out after this visit. After one more visit, this time with her sister, my wife got the dress altered reasonably well. But she has yet to receive any apology not compensation. If your sanity matter to you, stay away from this space.
