Skip started fishing in the 1960’s when his father took him fishing for trout using worms and Velveeta cheese as “the secret weapon.” Skip 50 years of outdoor skills have been recognized by ESPN when he was nominated for an ESPY award for “Best Outdoor Athlete”. He has been the subject of many news stories, magazine articles, books, documentaries, radio shows, as well as special guest stare on the Outdoor Channel, Fox Sports, ABC Sports, CNN, and many other networks and sportsman shows. He is a consultant for commercials and documenties. He also was inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame. He still holds four world records.
Skip is a New York State Licensed Guide and has been fishing the northeast United States waters for 50 years. His understanding of the ecosystem coupled with his knowledge of fluid dynamics with respect to the habits of fish and their movements during rest, feeding and migration has gained him the respect to be referred to as a “Guide’s Guide.” Fishermen from around the world seek his understanding of the waters from Cape Cod to Cape May. These waters are known for Stripers, Blues and Albacore. Skip is also sought out for his fishing knowledge of New York cold and warm water fisheries. His expertise extends from the Catskills to the Adirondacks and the tributaries of Lake Ontario. What separate Shu-Fly apart from the rest are our custom day trips, or multi-day excursions. These Fresh or Saltwater Guided trips can be arranged for 1 to 5 people. Corporate group trips are encouraged. Skip will design your trip based on your needs, experience and your dreams.
