The muffuletta was amazing. Got a half because it's huge. Very well sealed packaging. Looked and tasted very fresh. Staff was nice. Side note: they had Titos in liter sizes, I've never seen before, maybe a south thing?
If you're walking the Quarter people watching or taking a break from the crowds, Sidney's is the place to go. Stop in and grab a beer or bottle of your favorite liquor and walk around. Cheap beers. Great atmosphere. Currently, the best place to get a Central Grocery muffelatta.
Well first, Hats Off to Sidney’s for helping out a fellow neighbor and second thank you for selling Central Grocery’s famous muffuletta sandwich. Central Grocery is closed and still under repair from storms, but Sidney’s Wine Cellar next door is selling that mentioned sandwich out of their store. The sandwich doesn’t disappoint either! I got a half size because the whole is the size of a medium pizza. It was very good and filling and surprisingly fresh and not soggy considering the sandwiches are pre-made. A definite treat I enjoyed back at my hotel the next day after buying mine. My cost for the half size was $16.45 including tax, well worth the cost, I had two meals out of the half of sandwich.
This is one of the goto of the liquor stores in the quarter and temporary location for the Central Grocery muffaletta you can’t go wrong going to Sydney‘s. They’re always cool and they got some interesting selections.
Staff is incredibly rude. I just wanted one of my beloved Central Grocery muffulettas and the two workers at the front were incredibly belittling when I asked where I could buy one in the store. I’ll just go elsewhere until they get the shop back open…I’m sure it’s annoying to get asked a lot but no reason to be mean to people.
Convenient spot to grab a beer or pickup a drink while near the French Market. Hit the streets: the folks at the counter are happy to pop your tops and brown-bag you. The expansive selection is worth making a dedicated trip, even if you're not in the area. Also, this is the furthest from PA I've been able to find a Yuengling.
Not sure how this place got any good reviews. The guy working there is probably the rudest employee west of the Mississippi River. If you don’t like your job that much why don’t you stay home and play Fortnite. Don’t give this place a five star because the muffulettas, they don’t even make them, remember that your good review should go to Central Grocery & Deli next door, which is currently under renovation.
I liked the place and the staff was friendly. They have a large selection of rare Bourbon. If money is no option you can probably get it here.
We popped into Sidney's to get a sandwich since Central Market is closed and they are selling them at Sidney's next door. The rudest two people I ran across in New Orleans were at the door and behind the register. Shouting for us to read the signs and not ask questions....needless to say, we walked right out. I wonder why such a nice Italian market would entrust their beautiful sandwiches to this place. So sad.
Still trying to make sense out what happened today. Three of us were in Sidney’s checking out the wine and a delivery person came through the store attempting to get down the aisle we were in so we said “ hello” and “excuse me” attempting to make room for him. Then we heard yelling from the two workers in the front of the store telling us to stop talking to him because he’s working. We looked at the workers and told them we were just saying hello and “excuse me” and like robots they repeated not to talk to him. We are visiting from the northeast and while on this trip these 2 people are the only 2 people we encountered that were very rude and VERY weird. We left the store and would advise people to support other stores. I don’t know if this place is part of central grocery since they are selling their muffulettas but if you want a muffuletta go somewhere else. It was a very weird experience and they treated this individual like garbage! A bad reflection on this business!
