Closer to 3.5 stars. I really wanted to love this place! The atmosphere is very nice , cool, relaxed, come have a great time vibe. They lost points: I walked in, no hostess stand or greeting. Cool cool, I’m not going crazy I stand in the front for a minute, but still no acknowledgement. I walk a few steps to the bar and kindly ask if it’s seat yourself or assigned seating. The waitress/ bartender told me she’ll seat me in a moment she was attending to other clients. I wait and wait and wait, there’s another person behind the bar this whole time. He leaves behind the bar for a few minutes, comes back, sees I’m still waiting and tells me to just sit anywhere at one of the 2 tops That was annoying, the woman was apologetic about wait and communication. So half a star lost. I got the shishito peppers and hot pot bibimbap with tofu. Shishito peppers were super flavorful, a little spicy, and a good serving amount. The bibimbap was just okay, it lacked flavor, and was just pretty bland overall. They cut the tofu into tiny pieces and I can get why, but just wasn’t my personal preference. I had the lavender sky. It was good
Bibimbap with chicken and mild spicy sauce was delicious…“you seem like you’re struggling, do you want me to mix it for you”. I think her name was Elena Bartender LOL Amazing & friendly staff and delicious food.
great food, service is very friendly, came here on a friday night for a mutual friend’s dj set and it got busy! anticipate lots of people on weekend nights, it’s a small spot and can get crowded.
Pretty good spot that feels more like a fusion. Good flavors but nothing to die for. They seem to be fans of truffle oil that was sprinkled on both asparagus and kalbi. Speaking or kalbi, it wasn’t what you’d usually expect in kbbq cut across the bone or in kalbi jjim braised but what felt like a large bone baked then stripped off of meat and carefully plated with some condiments. The meat was good but it should have been hotter. Bulgogi had decent flavors but the meat was way too thick; I expect bulgogi to be paper thin, more like hotpot beef as that’s what you’d usually get in any spot in k town. No complains about the drinks but the service was a bit slow.
The aesthetic inside is charming and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Regulars feel like they are part of a community when they come back, which is not common for NYC bars. Also a great place to host parties and private events!
I am not an expert on Korean food at all, but I just demolished the stir fried black bean paste with veggies over noodles and an egg for lunch and it was really tasty. Lots of great flavors. I'll be back.
We used to love the food from here, however had a mouthful of food with a seasoned chewed up fingernail in my bibimbap last night. Just so completely grossed out and have 1 and 2 year old kids and can't afford to ever eat here again.
omg this place is such a hidden gem!!! the food was AMAZING absolutely loved the tang soo yook - i’m now converted to a dip believer!! we were also the only table of customers there, so it felt both safe and like we bought out the whole place please come visit/get takeout!!
Wish I had more to say but I've yet to taste the food or experience the full vibe. In any case their drinks aren't bad and it's a cool place with a Korean influence.
Delicious food omg, great staff, fast service.
