It's an old building. But I even board my dog here. I've used Sims for years. While they may not have the newest technology. They also have years of experience. they have had great compassion when both my dogs had to be put down. They aren't always worried about how much money they can make. They will figure out the most cost efficient way to cut down the price of medications when needed. I've gone other places and always come back.
I've been taking my dogs and cat there for about four years now. I don't get why people are complaining about the staff. I mean it's not the most professional atmosphere, but it really doesn't need to be. I would say it's more of a laid back front desk position, which I actually prefer. The receptionist doesn't need to be uptight, they simply need to check me in and check me out. They do this wonderfully. Now, every Dr. I've ever seen there has been knowledgeable and has treated the root problem with a precise execution where there is the correct balance of care in terms of treating it as simply as possible, but not in such a way that will prolong the issue. I get a feeling of years of knowledge and a laid back atmosphere, and people who really care about their work and don't have to dress the part, because they act it so well. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone, and actually have on more than a few occasions.
We have been taking our pets here for many years and Doctor Simms has always been so caring of them. He is Honest and open with us and answers our questions with sincerity. We had to let one go after 14 years. Broke our hearts Dr. Simms took us back and helped us through the process. We are so grateful for his help and understanding. We look forward to many years with our new pet. We were not ready but it was a rescue situation and so thankful now.Thank you Dr. Simms.
The worst experience I have ever been through in my life. I came there with my first dog for a couple of years and they were alright. What finished it off for me was when my dog was elderly and very ill, I rushed him there and needed help getting him out of the car and into the office for medical attention due to the fact that he was a large breed dog and wasn't able to walk because of how bad he was doing. They told me that I had to wait my turn... They made their way out after about 10 minutes, after my dog had passed while I was there waiting with him because I didn't want to leave him alone. I was hysterical at that point and the only thing they could say to me was to ask me to come in and pay... No apology, nothing. I will NEVER be back and will advise everyone I know to never go there. As far as I am concerned they do not have your pets best interest at heart.
First visit last sat, had to have one of our babies put down. Able to get us in last minute, staff and Dr were as good as anyone could ask for many questions as we had previously taken him to our old Vet in Salem and she had not seen him before. Was genuinely concerned and never appeared that she was just there to collect a fee. She even cried with me as my Leo slipped into kitty heaven. Afterward, told me i could use the room as long as i needed to compose myself and say goodbye. Can't get anymore caring than that in my view. I will definitely start bringing my other kitties to her.
This vet is horrible!! I brought my dog in there after she broke her toenail really low. First off I was SHOCKED at the condition of the room we were in, it was a absolutely FILTHY! The doctor was sitting behind a metal table unable to to help maneuver the dog on the table at all. I wanted to turn around and leave but my dog was in pain I wanted her to have relief. Needless to say I had to take her back to MY normal vet 2 days later because she was still in excruciating pain and the procedure had to be done again due to him not getting the quick all of the nail out. I tried getting a refund for unsatisfactory service and he refused and kept stating he did it right. If you love your pet find another vet!
The vet and assistants are kind enough and mean well, and the prices can't be beat by more commercial places...but the exam room is filthy, the surgery table is rusted, their cabinets are falling apart, and the whole place reeks of rotten feet. They'll take care of your pets, but you may not be able to stand going in due to sanitary conditions
Terrible. I took my elderly 18 yr old cat here. He had been going here for the past couple yrs. He handled my cat very poorly and aggressive then sold me some new flea medicine which almost killed him. He had a seizure hours after I applied it..and it was over priced. He didn't even address the issue I came in for.. kept goin around the question..
I have been taking my pets here for years. I have had everything feom parvo, to leukemia, and diabetes going on and they were nothing nut spot on. My cat with feline leukemia i went 3! Vet amd all said put her down, but not sims they cared for her so much. She lived a long and happy life thanks to them.
Have been using this vet for 12 years and would not change a thing. They have gone through thick and thin with us. The heartache of losing a pet is bad enough we've had to put down 2 including my mother-in-law's cat but their vets are kind. I have referred many people to them through the years and will continue.
