First Haircut was so much fun! A great experience for my six year-old. My daughter's clipped hair was saved, they took her photo with a cute sign, printed it, and made a cute postcard! My daughter's haircut experience was very relaxed and fun. Her stylist, Carrie, was thoughtful, listened, and was attentive. We only wanted a few inches off the ends and result was perfect! The whole setup is perfect for kids. Tablets for each station, cars with movable wheels to sit in for the cut, large mirrors so kids can see what's going on, and fun glitter tattoos! My daughter will be returning for many years! Specialties: We chose the First Haircut service and were quite pleased! Yay for glitter tattoos. Stylist: Carrie was great! Very attentive, carefully listened, and she seemed to genuinely enjoy cutting my daughter's hair.
Major recent disappointment, and lack of follow up, makes me rethink our commitment to Sit Still. We take our four year old to Sit Still for nearly all of his haircuts, at least 8 since he turned one. We've appreciated how kid-centered the stylists are, and the commitment to making haircuts fun and interesting. This is especially helpful for our active and easily distractible toddler. Last week I took our toddler in a routine cut. I asked the stylist to keep the same style, but take off about an inch or so off. My goal was to keep our kid's hair shaggy but short enough so that it was no longer in his eyes. I showed the stylist photos of our kiddo after his most recent hair cut in March. The stylist repeated back to me what I asked, and I walked away from the chair feeling confident that this routine haircut would yield the results we hoped for. Unfortunately, the result was a terrible haircut. The stylist removed about 3 or more inches off and eliminated nearly all the shagginess. When I saw the first initial cuts, I felt alarmed. I figured that the stylist would keep the same shape and shag, but simply cut a tad shorter than discussed. Instead, my kiddo received what appears to be a poorly executed crew cut. A high and straight bang. Short sides but sloppy around the ears. Nearly all the cut lines are visible, so at certain angles it seems like my our kid's hair is terraced. The haircut simply looks awful. Adding insult, my kid was covered in hair no attempt to blow it off and the stylist seemed in a rush to move us out. I felt angry and embarrassed, the shop was full of other kids and families and rather than confront the stylist who couldn't fix the hair at this point beyond shaving my kids hair further, I left. I booked the appointment with the first available stylist, someone labeled level 1. I realize in retrospect that perhaps the stylist is new or in training and that, sometimes, stylists have a bad day or make mistakes. I can live with this. But what frustrates me more is that, after the haircut, I called the salon and left a message with the manager no one answered the phone, expression my frustration. I also left a negative review with the Boulevard.IO app. I have yet to receive a response back from the shop. I'm not looking for a refund I get it, stylists deserve to get paid, but an acknowledgement of the bad cut. Sit Still's website states that it's mission is "to provide the whole family with positive experiences and high-quality styles in a welcoming, inclusive environment filled with all things cool." Mistakes happen. But a welcoming, inclusive environment requires accountability when mistakes are made. Otherwise Sit Still is no more inclusive than Supercuts or any other shop. So why go back? Attached I've included photos of my kids hair before, the example cuts I asked for and showed the stylist, and the aftermath.
The last visit with Jessa L. Was awesome, I would give a five-star for sure. I even left her 50% as her tip to appreciate how much I loved our visit. Unfortunately The fourth visit was very disappointing. It was evident that Katherine wasn't adept at interacting with young children, from welcoming us to seating us. A cartoon from the previous customer was still playing on the tablet, indicating that it hadn't been cleaned. It was right in front of my son. Then she asked if I was okay with screen time, which I found absurd. Next, she asked about the hairstyle I wanted. I showed her a photo, but she glanced at it briefly and said she understood. I mentioned that last time, we had a shaved line for easy parting. She said it wasn't a problem. During the haircut, I felt she was rough and didn't interact much with my child. She rudely told him not to move or touch the bangs she was cutting. I understand they let kids hold tablets to cut the back of their heads, but she just handed it to my son and then snatched it away when she finished, putting it back in front of him. This made me very uncomfortable. Later, she asked if the bangs were okay. I said I didn't want them to touch his eyes. I was really frustrated with the bangs she cut; they were completely uneven, lacking any sense of design. She had another designer shave the line without communicating with me why. In fact, I wouldn't have asked for it if she couldn't do it. When he finished, she abruptly turned off the tablet and told my son his screen time was over, then took the cape and went to the counter, leaving my son covered in hair. I had to brush it off for him before she handed me a sticky roll. Then she asked if I wanted to leave a tip. After I paid, there was no further interaction. My son asked why he didn't get a lollipop this time, and I didn't know what to say because he always gets one. I guess I've learned my lesson. I wanted to book with the previous stylist, but our schedules didn't match. I thought with the high price, the skill level of the stylist wouldn't be so poor. I was really wrong.
Carrie was wonderful! Patient and gentle with our 16 month old for his first haircut. Turned out great and he was able to sit still. We will be back.
We had a great experience at Sit Still Kids! My 5 year old wanted a Bob haircut and it turned out SO cute shout out to Jessa! This was our first salon experience and we loved it! Everyone was friendly, made my daughter feel really comfortable, and the hair glitter was a huge bonus at the end! We will be back!ServicesKids' cuts
I brought my two year old grandson for his first real haircut with Carrie today and the experience was so successful! We loved the friendly, easy atmosphere and Carrie had him relaxed and comfortable in no time. We will be back!ServicesKids' cuts
Easy to schedule. Everyone is very friendly, our girls love going. It’s not our main haircut place since it’s very pricey but it’s a nice treat every so oftenServicesBlowouts
We LOVE getting our boys haircuts here! The stylists did a great job making the kids feel safe and comfortable, making it all fun and playful and they are so quick! The haircuts only took 30 minutes at most and looked amazing. The kids love watching iPads and sitting in the cool chairs. Ainsley did a great job checking in with me about the cut along the way to make sure I was happy with it. Much appreciated!
Absolutly terrible experience. After 2 prior appointments where the stylist was kind, took her time provided glitter at the end - this was the complete opposite. I was sick with pneumonia so Grandma took my daughter to her appointment after Dance. They hit 5:00 traffic and arrived to their 5:30 appointment at 5:38. There were no waiting clients then, nor the entire time they were there. The "long" hair cut lasted only 10 minutes and glitter was denied 3 times because there wasn't enough time. Everyone left feeling sad and rushed. After seeing the haircut results it's clear this was an unskilled person. Her ends are hacked and uneven. Carrie is not a good fit for a child's salon and Sit Still is no longer a good fit for us.
7yo had her first haircut with baby sibling watching. Carrie was wonderful and both kids look forward to returning!ServicesKids' cuts
