Solar Yoga Ashram is a volunteer run spiritual, non-sectarian center committed to supporting health and well being through the practice of yoga
The Solar Yoga Ashram of New York, formerly the Solar Yoga & Arts Center, is one of the oldest yoga centers in NYC, founded in 1977. A group of volunteers, deeply inspired and forever changed by the yoga teachings of our founding gurus Dr. Jose Manuel Estrada and Serge Raynaud de la Ferriere, offered up their personal funds and raised money to purchase this building.
We are a spiritual, non-sectarian organization committed to supporting individual health and well being, and human harmony through the practice of yoga, while respecting our planet and the Cosmos that sustain us.
The Center suffered a tragic loss in the last ten years, including the loss of our building, now reclaimed. Re-emerging as the Solar Yoga Ashram in 2015, our members are devoted to restoring our building and achieving the material needs to fulfill our original purpose to serve our community and humankind by living and teaching the principles of yoga, and by supporting programs that foster harmony and unity.
We are entirely not-for-profit, wholly dependent on volunteer and donations to survive. Your generous donations and support are sincerely appreciated.
