Went here with my coworkers to get lunch. This is the second location I've been to and the line is a bit long during lunchtime but goes by quickly. Their green sauce is really good and def recommend getting a platter. The shredded beef was tender and was flavorful. The empanada esp the beef one hits every single time!Food: 4/5
Excellent Cuban food! I loved the meat and the plantains in particular. I wish there was more seating for lunch, but it's still worth bringing back to your home or office.Food: 5/5
I have been going to Sophie’s for years and the food never disappoints!! I got the shredded beef stew this time and it was just as good as always, especially with the green sauce, which is a little bit spicy not too hot though. I will definitely come again.Food: 5/5
I walked into this place some months ago, as a first time tourist in NYC. Never had cuban food before, and the lovely folks working there advised me on the best things to try. Ended up with the breaded chicken sandwich, and it was fantastic. Really nice atmosphere, clean restroom and fair prices. If I ever come back to the city, I will definitely go back to Sophies!
I was extremely disappointed with our visit, the lines were long, so we thought we had hit the jackpot. There’s a few things I would change number one the lunch specials none of which include an actual meat with rice and beans. For example, one lunch special was a Cuban sandwich with a side of rice and beans which makes no sense. The way they organize the food was bad. They had rice, meats, beans, sides, all intermingled in the same section and they have two carts of food. Because the staff rush you through the line, we unfortunately ordered our food, while we were in front of the first section, so we missed out on other sides and meats available in the section closest to the register. The food was rather bland for Cuban food, I love Caribbean food and this did not hit the mark. We ordered 2 meals, 2 sodas, an empanada and stuff potato and paid over $50 way more than I expected to pay for such small portions of food.
Usually, I love the Sophie's franchise, but this restaurant right here set them back a bit, in my opinion. I went there for lunch, and not only did I receive horrible service but a lack of food as well. I ordered the oxtail stew with rice and beans and only received two pieces of oxtail and one of which was just bone. When I asked for more portion of meat, I was refused, and the female worker behind the counter acted as if she did not know English all of sudden. Very disappointing!
I'm all the way in my feelings missing my favorite NY food. This by far is my favorite spot in the city for Cuban cuisine. They are quick and easy and the food is always yummy. The grilled hot chicken and Verde sauce is absolutely yummy. Love them #givingempress Food: 5/5
I can't speak about the atmosphere much because it was take-out service. It was quick, clean, worth the money and the walk since the location had relocated. Oh and not to mention extremely tasty and delicious mmm. Dietary restrictions: If you ask about what you maybe allergic to or how it's prepared, there is no hesitation with an answer. What a nasty service! Placed an order on GrubHub, got a call in half an hour ! telling me that they don’t serve the food I ordered on Thursdays why is it in the menu?. Asked to cancel my order and got literally yelled at. Apparently, it’s my problem and I need to be calling Grubhub and wasting. 20 minutes of my work time. Never ordering again.
Great place to get a home cook style meal! They have a great selection of Latin style food that is fast and super tasty! This is my go to place during those long work shifts.Food: 5/5
