South Mountain Park

Visiting the mountain viewpoint was an absolutely breathtaking experience. The scenery from the top was simply stunning, with panoramic views of lush green valleys, majestic peaks, and a clear blue sky stretching as far as the eye could see. The peaceful atmosphere and serene beauty of nature truly made this spot a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. What made the experience even more magical was the presence of the beautiful horses. These majestic creatures added an extra touch of charm to the already picturesque setting. Watching them graze peacefully against the backdrop of the mountains was a sight to behold, making the visit even more memorable. Overall, the mountain viewpoint was not just a place to admire nature's beauty but also an opportunity to connect with these magnificent animals. Whether you're a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or simply seeking some tranquility, this spot offers an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe. I highly recommend visiting this gem of a location, where the stunning views and the presence of horses create a truly unforgettable experience.

We started watching sunsets here in 1983, now we have to do sunrises because the park closes at 7 p.m. We were 6th in line at 5 a.m. to enter the park with alot of hikers and bicyclists. Stunning views, very peaceful, and free admission.

This park very much serves the purpose of leisure. While there are some unique micro/macro-hiking opportunities, do not expect anything above that. So long as you have your priorities straight this will please. Do keep in mind some trails are steep and narrow alongside being quite lengthy. Not reccomended for those who may struggle physically under mildly-adverse conditions. Park is clean and well maintained but could benefit from some accessibility improvements.

We walked the Judith Tunell Loop, which was paved. That was the easiest trail to find. I wish they had better directions to the different trails and staff on hand to assist. We were left to figure it out. The trail was quiet and clean. I was looking for a better experience here. I would not visit again or recommend it, unless you have someone familiar with the park and can assist you. Restrooms: Portable toilets only.

Great place for day hikes, picnics and outdoor parties. Seemingly a large enough area to be able to avoid crowds.

Beautiful place to go for a evening walk/weekend hike/morning hike. There was a lot of wildflowers in the mountains. Super easy hike. We went to the top with our one year old baby. I didn’t know this place was so close to my home. I would definitely go there again.

Great hiking when temperature allows. Spring wildflowers in March and April. That's also when the rattlesnakes come out, so keep your eyes open.

Great hiking area with beautiful views!

Great place to hike but trailhead was hard to find. A lot of bikers-- if you are looking to walk, I'd probably recommend somewhere else.
