Several months ago I was given a form to take to Breast Imaging to get a ultrasound done. When I got there they wouldn't take it because the doctor had put the wrong diagnosis for insurance coverage. I called the doctors office immediately and left a message for my doctor. I called and left messages many times without a response from her or her medical assistant. I went over there and waited and waited to catch the doctor so she could redo the form. She was never available. More phone calls until finally I sent a fax letter to the doctor explaining what I needed and that I had left many messages. We cam to realize that the front desk personnel were putting in the wrong messages for what I needed. The front desk staff are incompetent not to mention rude. I'm done.
Don't bother with the Southwest Medical Associates primary care. Their staff is incompetent and the working conditions must be terrible since we've lost 3 primary care providers in 5 years. We tried to establish with the new one and left a message to see if we could do a physical instead of a "new patient" appointment. Waited a month and called back. They said the physician approved it and scheduled my husband and I for physicals. My husband got a call 3 weeks before saying that the provider would be leaving and he could establish with a new provider. I called to see if our appointments were still on the schedule. They told me yes we were on the schedule and that would be the provider's last day. We showed up this morning and were told yesterday was his last day. They insisted repeatedly that they called us, even thought the secretary said that there was "no contact, wrong number" and then the manager denied that. Then when I asked if they would at least order the blood work I was told after waiting 30 min that it wasn't a physical, it was a new patient appointment and so they weren't going to do blood work anyway. Then they ask if I want to reschedule for a different day.
If I could give this place no stars, I would. My PCP is the worst Dr I have ever had. I made an app to talk to her about a medical condition and a few days prior I got really sick and was concerned about a sore throat so I thought I would address this when I went. I got there and they asked me what I was in for and I told them what I had previously set the app for and that I recently was concerned I might have strep. The assistant told me that if I had more than one concern I would need to make another app for that! I don't know how my PCP got her job, but she does not care for her patients and is so condescending. I am going to report this clinic to my insurance and I advise others to do the same. I would not trust these people with my health and definitely not my life.
Dr. Zanghellini is a wonderful Pediatrician at this location. I have 6 children, yep you read that right, and he saw each and everyone promptly at each appointment. He listens to any issues and has been wonderful in helping my find specialists for my two special needs children. The office has been swift yet thorough in getting us in and out each time. After having been in Illinois most of their life and with the same doctor up until this June when we relocated, the kids were easily won over by him and his staff. I do not give out ratings often, but felt that this time it was warranted.
Like any medical practice, there will be problems. Overall though, this has been the least problematic medical group I've dealt with. I deal with two doctors in the same building, but different departments. My primary is in the main clinic, but the second floor, and that can be tricky at times due to the restricted access to floor 2 and the check in process. Most of the time you have to walk through the line of patients checking in and go to the elevator and then check in on the second floor. But someone isn't always there, so you have to check in at the main check in which is generally a 10 minute wait. So of you have to check in at the main lobby, the experience won't be so great. The neurology suite on the third floor, however, is awesome. They have their own dedicated lobby, without having to pass through a long line just to get to the elevators. The rear elevators go right to the third floor. Wait times and scheduling there are extremely efficient. If you're there and checked in by your scheduled appointment time, you get called back right at your appointment time. Then it takes another 5-10 minutes for the doctor to arrive. And great doctors they are indeed. Overall this has been the best and most efficient medical practice I've been to. The only thing they could do better is require that the doctors actually use the messaging options in their online patient portal. Most of the doctors there don't even know about it, let alone how to view or respond to messages. Get everyone using the messaging system and things would be near perfect.
I have been going here for years, and love my docs. My daughter goes here also. nothing but good things to say. when checking in with my primary, I do go to the front desk. they are always nice and smiling. If I see my neurologist, he is on the 3rd floor and I check in up there. the doctors that me and my family have seen Shibuya, Pickett, and Young know their stuff and they are really good docs.
I needed to get in for an earache, but didn't have a PCP yet so they couldn't see me at all. So I made a new client appointment for 2 months down the line and consulted an Audiologist friend about my ear. I was hoping to talk to my new PCP about a prescription I needed refilled, but they canceled a mere week before the appointment and told me they couldn't get me in for another 2 months, nor could they give me an extension on my prescription. On top of that the person on the phone was rude as could be. I took my business elsewhere.
I was the only person in line and there were 3 receptionists available. Even so, I was told to wait, which I did for about 5 minutes, before they checked me in. The nurse called me after about 10 minutes from check-in and took my vitals, saying the dr. would be right in. I waited almost an hour in the exam room and no sign of the dr. I walked out and told the receptionist that I was leaving. The nurse came out to get another patient. When she saw me she said the dr was ready for me. I went back to the exam room and waited another 10 minutes. Still no dr. I left and told the receptionist to call the clinic manager; the line was busy. I asked her to call me. After several days of no communication I called the clinic director, leaving a voice mail. The next day the clinic manager called me, at her bosses request. I told her what happened. Very unapologetic, she told me that that's how Dr. Tran sees patients. I asked, since they know that, why don't schedule more than 20 minute appointments. Her reply: well, we can't do that, can we? Go somewhere else, see a witch doctor, but don't go to SW Medical Associates Westside.
I have recently experienced "POOR QUALITY OF CARE" from the SW Medical Associates, LOVELACE MEDICAL DR JOHN TUCKER my so called "Primary Care Physician". Last week my x-ray was sent to him and I received a call that I have a "Bone Spur" in my foot. I asked his assistant who called me...."What is a bone spur?"...she says "I don't know"....WHAT?? I ask, can you please ask Dr John Tucker to call me to please answer my question. I was told it will take 24-48hrs to get a return call. After 48 hours.....still no call. Left another message the following day....still no call from Dr Tucker. Call again then I am told.....he put a note in the system which I had no knowledge of that I need to "make an appointment" to have my simple question answered....this is ABSURD....come in to answer a question so you can bill my insurance?? Then I speak to the Office Manager who states that it is not uncommon for a doctor to "not call a patient" because it is considered "Practicing medicine over the phone" which they do not do. WHAT???? Where is the CUSTOMER CARE?? THIS IS MY PCP, I HAVE A QUESTION? Lovelace is in the stone age! Presbyterian has a great customer care with technology.....My Chart to see you records online, now offering Video Visits from your phone or computer, In-Mail where you can contact your Dr via email no problem! I will be returning to PRESBYTERIAN MEDICAL CARE!!!
I had blood tests taken on July 25,2013. I was asked to fill out an envelope with my home address as the results would be mailed to me. Since then I have not heard from the doctor's office or received the envelope in the mail with my results and today is August 13th. I have called several times to leave a message but have been on hold so long that the phone disconnected. I finally got a person to answer the phone yesterday August 12th and they told me they would take down my information and give it to the nurses to call me back as all of them were with patients. I still have not heard from anyone on my results. This is just not acceptable but what can you do about it except try and find another doctor and start all over again.
