Spirit Water Inn

“THE MOST EXTREME DIVE WE HAVE EVER SEEN.” DO NOT BE FOOLED....this place looks NOTHING like the pictures. Clearly some of these reviews have been made by friends and not customers as no one in their right mind would give this place 5 stars. This place was so misrepresented that we could not even stay in our cabin. We booked well in advance and when we arrived at 5:30 pm, after driving for 11 hours we found that the cabin was not ready. We had unloaded our vehicle outside the door expecting it to be ready for us to occupy. We waited outside for 1 1/2 hours (not even kidding) for the cleaning lady to be done, during which time it rained on us and our belongings while we stood outside. When we were finally able to go in and have a good look around we were met by such a strong stench of bleach and cleaning chemicals that it was had to breath and I had a headache almost instantly. We could not open the window to let the stench out because there was no screen, the TV did not work, the fridge did not work and the air conditioner did not work either. There were stains on the throw carpets covering the painted concrete floors and there were centipedes and some other unknown bugs crawling on the floors. We tried to make the best of it and stay but we only lasted 15 minutes after the supposed cleaning lady finished, it was just so DISGUSTING that we packed up and left, and while the cabins are pet friendly, it was not good enough even for our dog. Oh and to let you know how bad they felt about deceiving us and taking our money for this complete lie of a cabin and uninhabitable accommodations, we were NOT even given our money back. He kept it.

Great new management! Very accommodating and peaceful area. We wanted a change of pace and this was it!

My patience was greatly challenged this morning, we booked in March, put a deposit down for a cabin area called the Eagle Nest, arrived on Saturday, June 25 and we're put in a red cottage. Steve stated that we were the last ones arriving and he was full. I thought he would adjust our payment, but no way. We're told that you couldn't request rooms. Our confirmation clearly stated that we should have been in Eagle Nest. We paid him his money but will never go back. Beware if you are going here. You also have to find him when you need towels or garbage changes. The fridge leaked in our room, the screens were not on the some of the windows. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Steve was friendly and very accommodating. You must ask about the Helberg Lodge. It's a beautiful place and is perfect for any get-together or trip you might be planning!

Newly renovated with a window AC unit and satellite TV to get you through the storms when you can't be on the lake. The oven would constantly trip the breakers though, making cooking difficult.
