Initially this was a great place for my elderly mother to move to. But management went down quickly & after 2 years and a major fall in their icy parking lot causing a fractured back and now constant nerve pain, we’ve moved her out, without hardly even an apology for their lack of maintenance on the lot. Now management has not sent her the deposit or any explanation as to why not it’s been 2 months since she moved out, even though the apartment was left spotless. Area is beautiful, but sorry to say, we really don’t recommend it anymore at all.
Do not trust management. These apartments are managed by a woman who is preying on families taking their money under the table. She is should not be trusted and will hang up on you if you ask the right questions. Find somewhere - anywhere - else to live. PS. Wish I could have left 0 stars :
The last place I expected to find serenity, nature, and compatible human beings, and animals is that my “new“ apartment in St., Andrews, Apartments‼ But nonetheless, that’s what I’ve discovered after moving in last December 2022… and today September 2023. I’m here to report that I couldn’t be happier with the surroundings, the terrain, and the peacefulness that said Saint Andrews has afforded me I’m 78 years old and I’m looking to sign up for a three-year lease if that tells you anything about my experience after a divorce from a 30 year marriage that I didn’t initiate … it’s been quite an environment to grow in with no pressure no expectations and open arms with humanity welcoming me back to a fuller life there are geese, ducks, squirrels, rabbits, squinnies, and I suppose all other hosts of sentient beings among the beautiful trees, and 12 acres. It’s for a place for maturity to grow into wisdom an out of adolescent, demanding hopefulness that we all get straddled with in our youth in this culture I hear the geese calling… Don’t come if you don’t like quiet places it’s been family owned and run for at least two generations , and if they wanted to, they could have full occupancy with minor changes in the website in my view which counts because I pay rent here and for the next three years I hope
I've only been living at St. Andrews for a few months but I LOVE it, it's such a peaceful place! The staff and management are super friendly, helpful, reliable, and respectful. The apartment is huge and very affordable, especially compared to others in the area. The location is perfect- close to grocery stores, restaurants, fitness centers, and a short drive from downtown. One of my favorite aspects is the view! The complex is set back a bit and on a trail so all I see is tress and wildlife. It's extremely quiet- both location wise and in regards to neighbors. I highly recommend St. Andrews!
I recently moved down from MN to Urbandale and I picked the best apartments around! Immediately, the property manager, Vicky, was super friendly and helpful and we connected very well! These apartments are in an amazing location, right by a bike trail and creek. It feels like you aren't even living in the city with how quiet it is and the surrounding forest. The pool and garage option are great amenities as well. Highly recommend checking this place out if you plan to move to Des Moines!
Having lived in a senior complex before moving to St Andrews I was greatly surprised at what they have to offer tenants. The outdoor life, walking trails, wildlife, birds, etc. are all here right off your patio or balcony. Apt is well insulated and nice and cozy warm in winter. Staff is extremely courteous and friendly and can have problems taken care of in a short period of time. Management can be reached 24 hrs a day. Apts have lots of storage and very nice size rooms. So glad I moved here.
As a resident of St Andrews for a year, I can say with confidence this is one of the best places I have lived. It's great to be able to hop on the bike trail behind the building and head all the way downtown, or over to 515 Brewing and the Raccoon River trail. I love watching the wildlife that often wanders through the grounds and the staff have always been quick to respond to any issues. If you're searching for a place to call home, St. Andrews is a great choice!
After 1 year, I can seriously say I have loved living here. Quiet, very pretty, and in an amazing spot. Access to a huge trail system to get almost anywhere in Des Moines, 5 minute walk to Walker Johnston park, and situated with access right to 86th street....which you would never know once you get back into the complex. We can rarely hear traffic occasional sirens, can't even see the main road through all the trees...and best of all, the management cares about their tenants. When we first moved in, they had just replaced every balcony in the complex. They are very quick and responsive to tenants who call in repairs, and when we first moved in we were given a welcoming gift of cookies. Never have I felt so welcome, nor so comfortable, with renting an apartment. Thank you, St. Andrews!
If you are deciding to move here you are making an excellent choice! From day one the Management team Vicky has been so helpful and Maintenance team Howie was amazing. The neighbor was very friendly too. We were live here for a little over 3 years and everything was great. Thank you Vicky!
If you like nature, bike/walking trails, swimming, organized tenant events. . .then this is the place to hang your hat. With newly remodeled units, garage's available, easy access to a huge grocery store, two malls within 3 miles, bus route, it's a very safe and beautiful place to make your home. And if that's not enough, the Urbandale Public Library is just across the street, restaurants near by, and fitness center just around the corner. A very quiet area, with lots of wooded areas, great for people that are single, retired, family & kids, or just starting out. Enjoy!
