Episcopal Church
St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, located in Central Square Cambridge MA, celebrates its 105th anniversary in 2013. We are a predominantly Afro-Caribbean congregation moving towards diversity. Many members are in the wisdom generation, and we also serve adults and parents of small children.
St.Bartholomew's blends traditional liturgical practices with progressive contemporary sermons and Open Table communion. The weekly 8am Sunday service has no choir and no singing. The weekly 10.30am Sunday service sings a lot, from the Hymnal 1982 and LEVAS (Lift Every Voice and Sing). Iin July and August we have one worship service at 10:00 am. Our key neighborhood ministry is a Wednesday evening dinner for the hungry and those without or in transitory homes. This community meal is a joint effort initiated and led by students from MIT with significant parishioner involvement. We host between 60 and 100 guests to every Wednesday evening dinner and everyone is welcome.
