I removed my child after being here for 1 year. In my case the principal was new and the school was ran very poorly. Out dated curriculum, they use public school common core not what I was expecting. My child also experienced lots of bullying, to be told eventually it will stop when they fight back ? The lunch room is very small with a lunch lady who was extremely unfriendly my child didn’t even want to eat. The play area is a slab of concrete with cars parked where they play ? Children run around Aimlessly and are extremely careless of others, my child got hurt countless times and the response.. kids will be kids ? I would not recommend your child attending this 1950 style of teaching at all, save your child the negative experience my child still talks about !
I am so happy we decided to move our daughter here from public school. She has really thrived academically here. Great teachers, leadership and small class sizes. Great community of parents as well.
SJWCA brings out the best in every student by tapping into each individuals strengths. The staff is caring and compassionate, and the standards set are stellar, in both their curriculum and their morals. The school is a second home to each and every one of the children. I highly recommend SJWCA.
It's my understanding it is a great place to send your kids still part of the Catholic faith I am only here filming a movie so I can't go in the detail but everything in the bathrooms are nice and clean the place is nice and friendly have a great day continue to read and like my reviews bye
This school is the perfect example of community. The entire staff including the principal, parents and children are warm, friendly and welcoming. There is a sense of home. I cannot explain the feeling but when you walk in you feel like you've been there before and know everyone. If i could give a million stars i would. Thank you Ms Germann for accepting our family at a difficult time.
We are very fortunate to have found this school. Our experience thus far has been wonderful. Our daughter is thriving socially and academically. Her teachers have been stellar, she is learning a lot and she is happy/excited going to school. The school community is warm and inviting. There is after school school which we make use of, instrument lessons beginning in Kindergarten, Spanish class, and dedicated art, music, gym and tech teachers. All in all a great place!
I just wanted to write a brief note about how happy my family has been with our sixth grader Declan's experience at SJWCA this year. At the beginning of the school year, we spontaneously removed Declan from MS 88 and sent him to SJWCA. We just knew that neither Declan nor our family could survive a year of Declan on remote learning. Anything would be better than public school. What we did not know is that we would fall in love with SJWCA. From Declan's teachers to the administrators to the curriculum, Declan has had a wonderful in-person experience this year. In particular, Declan started every day with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Hail Mary, the Our Father, and a prayer to St. Joseph. Then, for the rest of the day, he had a traditional education with a student body that is more diverse than any of the public schools in the area. We fell in love with the education, and even though his older brothers went to some of the most selective public high schools in NYC, we are committed to sending Declan to Catholic school through High School. We want our son to have a traditional education in which he learns to think and is not indoctrinated in the political fad of the moment. We want him to use his brain and not follow the crowd. SJWCA is a gem, and we heartily recommend it to anyone who wants a traditional rigorous education and wants their child to learn how to think.
My child has been attending this school for a few years and looks forward to attending school. My wife, who is an educator in Public School, and I have always found the education excellent, the teachers receptive to our questions and a very full schedule of music, art and sport activities available for our child to participate in. The most impressive thing we have found with the school is the caring community of parents, students and faculty which has been able to grow in the school's Catholic setting.
We started our twins out here in the PreK 3 program. What a great experience. Loved it so much we decided to stay. We are in our 5th year now. There's a real supportive and down to earth community of parents and kids here. Our kids are in 2nd grade now and are reading independently and working on individual science projects at the moment. Two thumbs up from our family!
Great school. Teachers are really friendly, been going there since I was 5. I also made many friends, its a great community.
