Our children have been with SPSM for 2 years and have had a great experience. The staff are friendly professional and communicative. Our now 8 year old is in piano with Ms Pricilla and our now 11 year old is in piano with Mr Paul. They are both great teachers who fit well with the kids respective styles and personalities. It has been great to watch them both learn and grow through their lessons. We’ve especially enjoyed the little bonuses that come with the studio including free recitals and professional photos. Rick and the team are great.
I love St.Paul School of Music! Working with Rick to get set up with classes was entirely seamless. And my teacher was incredible. I wanted to take up violin for the first time and I didn't feel intimidated or out of place. Great for beginners and advanced! Highly recommend!
Rick is a great teacher and I’m really glad that I found this school of music. I wasn’t sure if classes would benefit me or not but I am positive now that lessons are key, as long as you have a great teacher like Rick. He gets to know you and your goals and helps you to get there with a great method. I’m very thankful for him and the school. I do online lessons since I moved and the quality is just as good. Thank you so much!
Learning with Priscilla has been fun and easy! I am an adult learning piano for the first time and lessons here have been transformational in my progress and attitude of learning an instrument. No matter what style you are looking to learn I highly recommend starting here!
Wonderfully inviting group of people, teachers that are flexible with scheduling and 2 recitals x year where students get to showcase their work! Very motivating to practice when there is a performance to work towards every 6 months. Lots of exposure to other instruments as well. Teachers make it fun.
My daughter took lessons with Drew Hurst at the St. Paul School of Music and he was outstanding. As a parent, it is immensely gratifying to witness the positive impact a dedicated and talented educator can have on a child's life, and Drew has surpassed all of my expectations. From the very beginning, it was clear that Drew possesses a rare combination of passion for music, expertise in teaching, and a genuine commitment to his students' growth. He not only helped develop a strong foundation and love of music for my daughter, he also did a great job of helping her set goals and he took the time to understand her musical preferences. As she learned how to play the ukulele and then electric guitar, Drew blended traditional music theory with modern techniques, ensuring that my daughter not only mastered the fundamentals but also developed an appreciation for the artistry and creativity within music. His patience and encouragement fostered a positive learning environment, allowing my daughter to confidently explore and express herself through her instrument. My only hesitation with writing this review is that I don’t want to encourage too many people to sign up for lessons with Drew because I’m worried when my daughter wants to learn another instrument Drew teaches she just stopped taking guitar lessons with him because she wants to switch to violin and he doesn’t teach it, he’ll be booked! Thank you so much, Drew!
What I like the most about my lessons with Rick is his easy going nature. Friendly, yet efficient with his time management during my lessons. I feel like going home and playing guitar for a couple more hours after spending just a short period of time with him and that's why I personally take lessons, to be inspired as well as taught. I always leave with tabs or notes or licks or whatever we've been working on also documented on paper so that when I go to play the following day I have it in front of me for a quick refresher if needed. And for the record, just because he's a easy going guy and relates well to his students doesn't mean he can't play! I say "what about this song or that song" and he either knows it off of the top of his head or 10 seconds listening on YouTube and he has it so he can then show me how to play it. I feel like he has an authentic interest in my development and progress and I can assure you from previous lesson elsewhere that this is definitely not always the case. I look forward to growing as a guitarist at the St Paul School of Music and would encourage anyone to try a handful of lessons to see what I'm talking about. I think you'll see/feel it too!
Rick helped me a lot with not only learning the techniques of guitar, but also every excitement of songs that I play each week, background of it and much more. He helped me to learning guitar is enjoyable and fun experience. He is super nice and great teacher who can tailor your skills, no matter what level you are, Rick will find great plan to improve your skills. 1000% highly recommended.
Enrolling at the St. Paul School of Music has truly changed my life forever. Before starting lessons with Rick, I was a “self-taught” guitar player who kinda knew some tricks here and there and could play some songs, and I had been doing this for several years. It can be daunting and overwhelming navigating the world of learning guitar, but I can gladly say that in the short 3 months since I’ve started, I’ve improved so much! Rick does such an awesome job of gauging where to start in his curriculum, and I love how much he has expanded my taste in music. I cannot recommend St. Paul School of Music enough, I’m so excited to continue learning and practicing with Rick!
Extremely happy with our experience at St. Paul School of Music for guitar lessons for our kids. Rick is always responsive and helpful when there are questions. The teachers were fun and patient and tailored lessons to where our kids were currently at, in terms of skill/experience level. A wonderful local business, growing a love for playing music in our community!
