Had great experience initially for several months but now I find it very disorganized and prices are higher than other Indian stores within 10 mile radius. Additionally the cashiers make zero attempt to put stuff in your bags as they are scanning it or even after scanning when the customer is waiting to pay. Haven't seen this behavior in other stores, so not sure if this is some new policy!
Good place for Indian grocery, though prices are not as good as nearby big stores like Patel Brothers or Apna Bazar. Not good fresh Indian food availability. Samosas and couple or snacks available but not as good.
This is a nice indian grocery store and very convenient location next to Costco. I go here every 2 weeks and rarely go to Patels in East windsor. However, I see that customers are billed to the items that they didnt purchase. Unless you check your bill, you wont know that you have been charged extra. It happened to me 4-5 times other times, i didnt check bill and more than 6 of friends complained the same. It happened today to my friend where she was charged $17 of rice bad which didnt even buy. I suggest people to check your bill twice. Money doesn't come easy : . I ask star bazaar counter mates/owner to address this seriously as this has been happening since long time.
As other reviews have mentioned, this is the place you should visit to when other stores are closed. Place is disorganized. Everything is expensive as compared to other Indian stores. Produce is mostly rotten. I've have received rotten onions 8/10 times. I eventually stopped getting onions from this place. To top it off, the staff at checkout is just not friendly at all. They act like store owners. Will I ever visit this store? - No.
My husband got 3 packs of Shri Rotis dated with a 3 week expiration from date of purchase. Brought it home. ALL of them had mold on them. Had to throw them out. This is not the first time. This is a huge health code violation. I will be reporting to the township office.
Bought egg plants today and all rotten from inside. When I called a lady picked up and said they don't accept return on vegetables and they can't do anything. I explained I just bought it an hr ago and when I came home and cut it I saw this. Still she kept on arguing that they don't take returns and I told them their whole lot of eggplants are rotten and they can't sell rotten stuff to customers. She passed my msg to another lady overthere and I can hear in Hindi she was mocking me thinking I don't understand Hindi lol. I understand Hindi completely and when I started speaking in Hindi then the lady on the phone said " Mam can speak in hindi too". I always buy Indian groceries from Star but I believe when your customers come up with a legitimate complain the staff overthere should look into the matter sincerely and not mock the customers. Anyways here is the pic for u to believe me.
It’s was nice and clean place to buy Indian groceries..second time there..guess what we found in the store..Maggy noodles
Not buy mango from this place. The mango is not good too eat. The cashier knows it but they sale to the customers.
This one of the Indian stores in area, you get all sort of stuff, frozen cooked food, fresh vegies, fruits, Indian desserts, bag of rice, flour, Indian lentils, masalas, spices, cookies etc.
Your average desi grocery store that also serves fresh snacks like shingara. Fresh produce section is diversified to cater every region of India. Packaged food selection is very good. Prices are typically higher for the lack of competition. Parking is tight and typical.
