Star the Reindeer

Very sad to see Star in it's cage in the middle of Anchorage. When we went by, a man was letting his dog bark at it through the fence. Why? Not to mention all the car noise it hears daily. This is not a tourist attraction. You want to see reindeer, go to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

Kinda funny. Basically someone's pet in the middle of downtown. His cage and attached barn seem adequate and not too sad a life. This is NOT a tourist destination. It's a fun spot to walk by if you're in the area or have kids.

A downtown prison for one. I understand that Star is a local celebrity but find them a more suitable place to live- Alaska Zoo, Reindeer Farm, AWCC, RRR, etc. This prison in downtown does not have the space recommended for this species to thrive.

Star is very sweet, but the conditions of her enclosure are depressing. Doesn't seem like enough space for a reindeer and it really needs to be cleaned. Pellets everywhere and it smells awful.

This was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. Lives there the whole year, by itself, until it dies. Then it’s replaced by another deer that gets named “Star”

How HORRIBLE it is poor Star has to stay in such a tiny space so just so selfish humans can take pictures with her. This is unbelievably cruel- I can’t believe people still let this happen. Shame

Star is great, happy, and healthy! The caretaker is the kindest man.
