I contacted Stewart on the afternoon that my loved one passed away. They were gracious enough to walk me through the process of accepting the body and helping me to organize a service. They were well equipped to meet all of my needs for a service. I will certainly recommend them to others. P.S. Mr Payne was my funeral director and he was outstanding!
I called Stewart Funeral Home yesterday around 1030 am to assist with retrieving my Dad's remains. My call was transferred to a gentleman who rudely told me " We're full. I won't have an appointment to speak with you till next Monday." So I called another funeral home. Much better service. I guess all of D.C. is hood. Even Funeral Homes.
To Staff and Director, It is with deep gratitude that I write this thank you review to Steward Funeral Home. My family lost beloved stepfather family patriarch on September 8, 2019. We have never experienced a family death and funeral before in the United States. We are originally from Cuba where funeral customs are different. Steward Funeral Home is in my father and mother’s neighborhood, and I decided to use its services mostly for the geographic convenience. Little did I know that this place would be such a boon in a time of great sorrow. My stepfather was always fortunate in finding good places and good people. So, it was quite fitting and as though he had chosen this place himself for his viewing and funeral. The initial interview with the funeral director was scheduled expeditiously. It was candid and straightforward, but at the same time courteous and caring. Interestingly enough, we found out that the Director had been in Cuba recently and had loved the experience. We made a quick, informed decision based on the information provided. We decided to do embalming and services with cremation. We chose flowers and rented a casket for the event. The staff was very attentive to our needs through every step of the process. My family is blended and multigenerational. The interview to sign the contract was done by my mother and me. However, my 18-year-old niece had come to see her grandfather’s body. She was on her way to see him before his condition changed and never made it. Therefore, she felt she needed to see him for her own peace of mind. The funeral director was contacted immediately and ask if she could see the body that day. It was a busy time for the funeral home, but the Director made sure to schedule an appointment later the same day to satisfy the request. We also had made an appointment to view the body before everyone else arrived. My stepfather was prepared superbly in his cowboy hat, his long sleeve shirt, black jacket, leather belt and Western Bolo tie. The embalming was done so well that it appeared almost as if he was still alive. His skin looked great and he was carefully positioned in the casket with a spectacular flower arrangement. I do not even recall selecting such a beautiful floral arrangement. On the day of the funeral we received a very courteous call from Mr. Bowman to give us the parking details. Mr. Bowman and the staff assisted us in any possible way they could. I really want to thank him for his respect to our culture, for the attentiveness to our needs, and his caring and professional demeanor. He was absolutely a great host and a God-send on this day that provided succor to our anguish and anxiety. Thanks to him we had a beautiful bilingual service in English and Spanish for the ceremony. It was just how my stepfather would have wanted. We read his bio, had a ceremonial biblical speech, and closed the program with his family and friends saying their last goodbyes. My family and myself really want to thank Steward Funeral Home for being patient, professional and caring; and for providing excellent services in their facilitation of the funeral process. Gracias!
The staff at Stewart Funeral Home did a great job with my father's funeral, big shout out to Mr. Payne.
During my family’s time of grief the Stewart Family took us under their wings of love. They made my brother’s transition a peaceful and smooth one. Thank God for The Stewart Funeral Home Family. My brother Richard Spears is truly at peace
Couldn’t believe that they didn’t tell the family member of Pete Bowlding after she brought over the suit for his viewing that he was already cremated weeks prior !!! She couldn’t even say her last goodbye or her last time to see his face of her husband. Horrible service.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Mrs. Helen Jackson this morning, i called to get assistance with connecting to streaming my coworkers fathers service. Mrs. Helen was patient with me because I was frazzled because I was late getting connected. I just wanted to let her know how much I appreciate her because if it wasn't for her i would have missed out on a wonderful service. i wasn't able to attend but i was able to stream and that really made me feel better under the circumstances. THANKS MRS. HELEN YOU ARE THE BOMB.COM and Stewart Funeral Home needs to know they have a diamond in the ruff. Have an awesome day on purpose !!
Mr. Stewart’s legacy lives on. His staff handled my family and I with tact and care! They exceeded all my expectations. They actually showed me that they cared. I am so pleased. The only reason they didn’t get 5 stars is because their projector system is completely outdated and in desperate need of an upgrade. Outside of that, everything else was perfect. Thank you for making this trying time a little easier with your warmth and care!
They went out of their way to honor every request that I made. A special Thank You to the Owner, Ms. Stewart, Mr. Brian Harris, Mr. Borden, and LaTonya Sims. Everything was A-1. The Lord truly used this Funeral Home to bring some peace to a horrific situation. I HIGHLY recommend this Business to handle the final arrangements of your loved one. God's best to them all!
