Had a blast! Today was my first time attempting rock climbing. I'm DEATHLY afraid of heights and only made it halfway up the wall. However, a really kind man named Dickie saw me struggling with my feet and overall technique and showed me a bunch of helpful tips! I was so grateful! A real sense of community here on my first day! I felt a little weak after trying a bunch of "bouldering" or crab walking I'm not sure what I was doing really but could definitely feel my forearms start to give out on me only pushed me to wanna come back and keep practicing! The front desk person I accidentally forgot her name was SO awesome! She cheered for me when I was trying to make it higher up the wall and pointed out helpful tips! She even spotted me on a different wall when I was afraid of falling past the crash pad! What makes this place truly standout is the community they seem to have. That to me out beats everything. The walls seemed well cared for and I loved the "rustic" type of feel of the place. Cool re-purposed van couches in the locker room were a really cool touch! Made me feel like I was at a friend's garage gym-really "home-y" and cozy! which I also prefer over large formal gym complexes. As a beginner- I felt VERY welcomed and not intimidated by the other climbers, I actually watched some of them work and admired their techniques! I only bought a day pass cuz it was my first time. But once I get a few more seshes In I'm DEFINITELY getting a monthly pass for this place!!! Best climbing gym!!!!
I was impressed with how big the gym was since the other reviews suggested it was small! You can tell a lot of thought and care was put into the design too. I can heartily recommend this place for a great bouldering or belay session.
Stoneworks is a great place to learn to climb, get better at climbing, and has a nice climbing community. It's not a flashy gym, and it's not huge, but their staff and members are nice, helpful, and enjoyable. If you're new to climbing, the Groupon they often offer is a deal that can't be beat. It's family-friendly and a great place for kids to learn, too.
Really enjoy this bouldering gym. There are quite a number of different routes for all levels, so it's easy to find success while working to improve toward the higher climbing levels and skills. It's also laid back and easy to enjoy just doing your own thing, getting in a workout, or enjoying some casual climbing. The auto belays set up at the 20-foot plus high areas of the gym are really cool and a different and fun challenge. Definitely highly recommend Stone Works.
It's a small gym compared to other gyms in the area, but don't let that stop you. The gym has a lot of character with their shotcrete walls and built in features. I never get bored here as you can make your own challenging routes. The community is also great!
Super low-key relaxed community gym. Employees are amazing and the routes are changed pretty often
THIS GYM REQUIRES SOCKS FOR RENTAL SHOES There's nothing wrong with that I just figure I should get the word out so you know if you're visiting. Awesome gym! Lots of bouldering, super fun. They use a grading system specific to the gym not your typical V or font scale. Good variety of terrain. Staff was great to work with. I'd say this is a more beginner friendly gym I didn't see anything harder than like V7-8ish. I'm not sure how often they reset routes, but for only visiting the gym once I loved it.
Super friendly and helpful staff! We really enjoyed climbing here while visiting from out of town for the month. Only $12 a day, climbing, bouldering, good routes, auto belays, and a few exercise machines upstairs. We'll be back next time we're in town!
Ross was very friendly and helpful. This was our 1st time with our kids and we all had a great time.
Not a fan of the variety of bouldering walls available. Routesetting ranges from uninspired to terrible, I barely remember anything I climbed. No formal grading system. No water fountains, empty water cooler. Seating pulled out of old cars, vibe more similar to a mechanic shop than a climbing gym. Mostly dad rock for music. Padding thickness and density is inconsistent, even for the fixed pads, and others you have to drag around yourself, making for spotty protection if climbing alone. Just doesn’t seem to have much of its revenue reinvested in making it a nice place to climb. Super friendly staff, and still a decent workout, however.
