I really enjoyed Street Food Cinema. We came to watch the Nightmare Before Christmas movie. The parking was very organized and there was people directing you as to where to park. Upon arrival, there are a bunch of food trucks and Porta potty's available. You get to pick a spot on the grass where you decide to watch the movie. It was so nice to watch an outdoor movie at night. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend this place for others. The also had vegan friendly options. My friend ordered and enjoyed some lobster tacos. You can also bring your dogs
Feels less like a community event and more like a money grab. For a series called "Street Food Cinema," the paucity of quality food trucks was shocking- the few that were there - Mexibachi and some vegan burger truck - were horribly overpriced. Not sure what happened to $4 tacos and other foods under $10. Drinks are $14 for a small pour in a baby plastic cup. Setting is great but $100 for a movie and small bites for two is unacceptable. Could have done without the noisy MC. I know I sound like a cranky old man, but it really was a letdown- I hope they revisit their whole offering.
Overpriced at $18 dollars, old movies usually and they don't really enforce the no tall chairs rule. Also very few and no so great food options, also overpriced. It is still fun but they should price it more accordingly to the movies. Maybe more people would show up and would be more attractive for the food trucks.
I went and saw Moulin Rouge with my friend and we were both very happy with the entire experience. The image and sound quality of the screen were exceptional and the band that played beforehand did well. My only issue was with the food trucks we ate at, it took almost an hour for me to get my food, I won't complain too much though because it was delicious.
I bought tickets to a showing in Glendale and the evening of the event there was nothing there. I've emailed and called Street Food Cinema and have not received any response for my request for a refund. These events are a scam - don't be fooled!
We did the movie and camping. Granted it was their first time doing the camping, so these were the things we felt they can improve on. . They need more potapotties, they kept them stocked with toilet paper, but there needed to be more for as many people as they had, Also, it was little unorganized at the beginning, no one seemed to know how to check anyone in. The picture was misleading on the website. It looks like you tented on grass, but it is actually dirt and dead weeds- they tried to flatten it down, but there were a lot of the branches sticking up which made it hard to put down your tent without popping a hole in it. Over all it was a good time, the movie was great, the band, the music and dancing, the midnight hike. We would probably do it again but not include the camping. Oh a tip- if your buying soda or waters, go to their little store it was half the price they were charging at the bar.
A perfectly organized and executed ENTERTAINMENT EXTRAVAGANZA! Try saying that 3 times fast... But seriously, Street Food Cinema is a well-oiled machine, from food trucks to music, comedy and film. TICKETS: Available on the website credit card or at the door cash only. If you email the producers, they may be able to arrange for a group discount for your entire group rather than only groups of 4. Beware, advance ticket purchasers get priority access at 5:30pm, while at the door ticket purchasers get to go in at 5:45pm. So to secure the best spot, buy in advance! FOOD + DRINKS: Bring your own EVERYTHING! Or, if you prefer, buy from the variety of food trucks available each night. The wait starts getting long around 7pm, so I'd get in line before then. BLANKETS + CHAIRS: Segregation is the name of the game. Separate may not be equal, but it's to give everyone the best seat in the house, no matter where you're at! The chairs have a special section on the side, and the blankets can set up in the middle. The grass does get dewy at night, so bring a cheap plastic tablecloth to go under your blankets if you don't want them to get wet. ENTERTAINMENT: There's a different band performing at around 7:30pm each night, followed by a guest interaction interlude usually some type of contest, and then movie begins promptly at 8:30pm. There are speakers located throughout the entire park, so even if you're further from the front screen, you'll feel like you're right next to it. RESTROOMS: Clean row of red porta potties in the back. PARKING: $10 for parking in the Exposition Park lot, but street parking available on Figueroa if you're lucky. DOGS: Allowed! Summer Saturday nights, Exposition Park... See you there!
My very first outdoor picnic cinema! My friend Cristina found a groupon and organized a group outing here to watch the Monty Python. I never seen the movie and was looking forward to it...too bad I passed out a little after it started. Would love to do it again and stay awake lol. **What I loved** - so much food trucks - the atmosphere - live music - picnic - outdoor movie!! **Downside** - most of the trucks left when the movie started - had to park a lil far - movie didn't start right away because they interviewed the producer and played games I guess this isn't a bad thing...but I was getting sleepy **TIPS** - show up early so you have enough time to find a spot on the grass and get in line for food trucks. - BLANKETS and JACKETS!!! Was FREEEEZING after 7:30pm on a summer night.
Great hospitality. Great movie. Great location. One thing, I wish the food truck choices were a little better but the park we went to was next to a shake shack so no complaints about location. We had an amazing time.
Today was my first time at a movie in the park and I really enjoyed it! I had a Groupon for this event... reserving my spots on the Flavorus site was a little confusing at first - I still had to enter payment information - but it was fine once I figured that out.
