The tour experience was great. If you can make my father excited, then you're good at what you do. Sunrise seems like a very nice place to live. The facility was clean and bright. The staff was warm and friendly. From the dinner that we enjoyed, to the resident pooch, the experience was a very good one. My normally resistant father left the tour in a great mood. Now, that's something to talk about.
This place is horrible management treat residence very poorly also they tend to ignore residence concerns they barely do the residence activities and the executive Director goes on vacation just about every other week which I don’t see how she runs a establishment like this however the building is roach infested in the maintenance man also ignores residence complaints which leads to the operations and the functions not working properly in the building, also he leaves and sneak off the building from time to time and he over works the employees and nag them when he finds out the owners or corporate is coming in. Days before when in reality the building is slowly failing down somewhere for your residence to go I advise another location this location is completely out of hand i even had residence express their feelings and most feel like they are just paying to stay and no one aid taking care or watching them for real and watching this day to day really hurts especially the maintenance man he walk around grumpy and rude to the residents for no reason sometime also he be drinking on the job in his office hungover
Unfortunately I was not impressed with management. My father only stayed a month, he passed June 1, 2021. During that first month I was there with him daily, I made sure he was being cared for. My plan was that he would continue to recover from hip surgery with some assistance then bring him home. He had a rapid decline and was put in incitement care. This is a daily charge and in my 6-8 hour days no one checked his diapers and often supplies were not there even though I had paid for them so I supplied wipes, diapers, and creams.
Use to work here. If you’re looking for a supportive and friendly working environment, this place is not it. The Executive Director is so incompetent that it’s laughable. The AL coordinator is the same, if not worst. They want you to change heavy residents 4-5 times during your shift without the proper equipment i.e. hoyer lift, stand lift, etc. It’s very difficult to do that, especially if the resident complains about being moved a lot. The place reeks of roaches and bed bugs. No matter how much the extinguishers come out and spray this place down, critters seem to not want to leave. Please don’t bring your loved ones here if you don’t want them to live in such a filthy place. It just would be indecent to put them in this place.
When my mother could no longer take care of herself the staff threw her clothes anywhere. Her room was messy and not cared for. Things were taken from her room after she died. Some of the staff cared and tried to help her, but I would not recommend this facility during Covid.
Dear Sunrise Management, I am not interested in discussing these issues with your facility. Of course no facility could ever do anything "perfectly," this was my experience for the 1.5 years. Bed bugs, multiple falls yet some very caring daily staff members. My mom resided at this facility for a little over 1 year. While no one will ever take care of your family like you, this isn't always feasible. I chose this facility because it was close to my job at the hospital and in an affluent neighborhood. Once she had a fall, I asked if the staff had placed ice on the wound and I was told they had none. Another time I came to visit her, as per usual, at random times, and I found that she was moved to another location. I was paying thousands of dollars monthly, I was aghast to find that there were bed bugs, which I was not told about. Not to mention, I had to beg them, on the dementia ward, to give my mother plain water. Not the daily "juice," drink, which no doubt contributed to her multiple UTIs. The management in the dementia ward, at that time was a revolving door. The two stars are for the AMAZING daily staff that DID THEIR BEST to take care of mom. They informed me that the monthly hair do's I was paying for mom actually had not been done in months and that they were washing her hair. There are some EXCELLENT OLDER AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN working there at that time on the DEMENTIA WARD. THEY honestly seemed to care. I cannot say so much for the dementia ward upper management. I had a more connected relationship to billing than a ward manager. Nice place, very pretty, but not worth the money. I cannot speak for any other wards within this facility.
My mom has been here for three months and has adapted to the change well. There are multiple meal choices, salad and soup at each meal and an effort to focus on hydration. The staff makes a point of keeping residents together with an eyes on approach to keep them safe. LIke all facilities I'd like to see more focus on live music. They do play music which residents enjoy. There is a dog and cat who roam around too. The staff works hard! They are attentive to their needs. Thank you!
Sunrise of Decatur is an awesome place to work! I worked there for five years and had the pleasure of working with an amazing Executive Director, Chermaine Hicks. Chermaine was always finding new ways to engage the team, from the frontline team members to the management. The one thing I can say, she was always fair, firm and consistent!
Hello. I was thinking about this for weeks before I decided to say something. I received a phone call from Sunrise of Decatur, three weeks ago for an interview. I was excited and I was looking forward to my interview. My first question I asked, "can I have a virtual interview because I live in Memphis." I was told, "the company isn't that advance at this time." Okay, I drove 6 hours to Atlanta 6/25/19 and stayed overnight for my interview on 6/26/19 @noon I was told by Nicholas, I apologized but the position was, "pending"...excuse me pending! You are waiting for someone to reply for this position? I drove a total of 12 hours, spent $60.00 in gas, and paid $140.00 for a hotel. Just to be told by Nicholas, a position I applied for was pending for $12.00. I am currently a grad student with 20 plus years healthcare experience. FYI, for the mgmt team and anyone traveling out of town, please ask if the position is pending and get confirmation regarding the pay range. I wasted my time and money for NOTHING. I really need to get reimbursed for lost time driving 6 hrs there and back for nothing... **why didn't anyone call me PRIOR to my arrival** 1. You had a pending position 2. You knew I lived in Memphis 3. I don't have $200.00 plus to waste for "pending"
My grandmother has been a resident there for about 2 months now it is a beautiful building very tasteful furniture and decorations looks like a resort hotel very nice. BUT most of the service staff is rude and not accommodating at all. Grandmother gets left in her bathroom unattended for too long all she can do is wait for help and they usually don't even come if she pulls the call button. I just called tonight about an issue and could not even understand the phone attendant she did not speak good English so I asked for someone in charge and she put another non English person on the phone. Grandmother says on weekends the staff is barely around checking on her. My Grandmother is probably not happy there and very demanding but I still don't like the way they are treating her and other resident as I have noticed if I stay for dinner.
