Sunset Yoga Center

This is a special place. Every instructor I have had teaches from the heart and guides with the brain. They are all committed to their own personal growth and achievement and want to share their own learning with their students. The owner strives to create an environment that holds a sacred space for the student where each has the opportunity to meet one's personal challenges and achieve individual growth. To me, it seems their motto is "Progress...not perfection."

I've practiced for many years with several teachers at Sunset Yoga Center. Each has years of training and brings the depth of their personal practice to the teaching. They offer classes from beginner to experienced. The poses are carefully sequenced and props are used as appropriate to make the postures accessible to people with differing strength and flexibility. Very welcoming to all.

The space is nice but Amy Ducan is possibly one of the worst yoga teachers I have ever experienced in my 15 years of yoga. She undermined her students, spent the first 10 min of class ignoring us trying to work an iPad, over explained the most basic poses to the point of boredom. Also she seemed controlling and talked down to many of the student, not including me but I felt bad for her class. She herself could not hold a position. And I received no value, no calming sense, no stretching and just annoyance. She also would have us hold a pose and then not stretch the other muscle groups associated with the pose which can be dangerous for less experienced yogis. Other teacher may be great.. I almost asked for my money back. Most of the class we were standing around listening to her talk.
