Sunshine School was founded in 1978 by a group of people with a vision in mind—that young children learn in an atmosphere of love and support; that each child should be valued for his or her uniqueness; that each child should be nurtured in a family environment of shared experiences and in an environment that nurtures a sense of community. Today, Sunshine School embraces and perpetuates this vision, serving families on the Windward side. The school is non-denominational with a non-profit status.
Sunshine School was founded on the belief that each child is a capable learner. Our curriculum engages children in making connections between home, school, and community. We believe that school can be an important part of a child’s life. We provide an environment that allows children the freedom to explore their world through play. Through these experiences, each child discovers that learning is an exciting and continual process. Making connections, sharing life experiences, and growing with love all foster this idea.
