Super 8 Des Moines

Under remodeling and discovered this only after paying in advance for a semi finished room. Phone in room didn't work. Room needed paint,no coffee pot as was advertised to be in room. Worst Wyndham motel I have paid for! Only thing good was the receptionist at the Baymont who took care of me when I could find no one at the desk at Super 8. I will NEVER stay at this motel again. .

UPDATE: Mia at the front desk was very helpful, and apologetic about the state of our room and the quality of our stay. If I had not booked through a 3rd party, she would have given me a refund for the room. Since that was not possible she said she would give me credit on my Wyndham rewards for a future hotel stay. We tried to check in at the front desk of Super 8, only to be told we need to go to the neighboring Baymont hotel to check in. When we got to our room, the lights did not work. We eventually got a lamp to work by tightening the lightbulb. The beds looked as though they had been slept in, and we found thumb tacks poked into the blankets on each bed. There was no remote to our tv, so we tried to run it manually with no success. The direct tv access card had been removed. Paint is peeling from the walls and doors. There are spots on the wall where something used to be and was painted around. The smoke dector is covered in plastic. The heater/ac was unplugged, so our room was FREEZING upon arrival Feb 10. There is mold growing in the shower and the door is filthy. The outlets are warped and coming off the walls and lamps & shades are broken. We had running water and sketchy beds to sleep in. But I guess that's what we get for the price. I will never stay here again.

Due to staffing shortages, desk attendant hours are extremely limited. There is no message saying to call another number when trying to contact. The first room we were given was actively flooding in the bathroom, even going out to the carpet. We were given another room which was more appropriate, but still somewhat lacking as the bed was not particularly comfortable. Motel location quite good for our needs.

These people are CROOKS! Terrible customer service skills rooms was still dirty sheets were not changed smelled. They refused to give my deposit back stating there was smoking in room when they never even bothered to inspect it as I waited at my room for them! Both motels baymont and super8 are ran by one employee so you have to run back and forth to get a hold of anyone. I initially reserved my room and it was canceled when I got there but my Wyndham rewards I used to reserve the room were kept witch is about a $20 value plus I had to book the room without rewards costing another $20 extra!! I got ROBBED!!!

it could have been more lit up from the roads perspective, and the front desk clerk in the am could have been a little friendlier but other then that it was nice .Rooms: 3/5

For the most part, the room was clean and in decent repair. But when you first pull up, you question your sanity for coming here... It does not give you a welcoming feeling when the exterior of the property is not cleaned the stairwell looks like it's going to collapse under you and you are hard-pressed to find staff. The hallway of the second floor was disgusting. I think with a little more staff and more scrutiny from management, this place could turn around quickly. I think we would only stay here again in an emergency.

False advertising! The website states this one of few hotels with an outdoor pool. The pool hasn't been in use for over two years. The Baymont next door is owned by the same people, but the guest at super 8 are no longer welcomed to use the pool. Also, false advertising for their breakfast options. The orange juice was out. The selection for food was shameful. We ended up going to breakfast. We talked with other patrons who were equally disappointed by thier experience as well. The entire hotel is outdated and trashed. The only positive was our bed was super comfortable.
