We loved our cooking class! Chef Lisa was intelligent and patient replacing ingredients when we made a mistake. She taught us a lot! She trained in Paris for 6 months and her chocolate soufflé was delicious! We loved the whole meal. The other staff were kind and helpful too. Tip- park in a parking garage because the two hour spots are not quite enough time. Thanks for a great experience, Chef Lisa!
This is such an amazing shop, high quality kitchen ware and food. Pricing is fair and the selection is unparalleled in Alexandria. Must stop you never know what you are going to find.
Pasta making class at Alexandria Va. Well organized but not particularly friendly- an hour in I had to ask for water. We were expected to rush thru the delicious meal to make up for late start. At $150 for a meal I expect to carry my leftovers home which was not allowed nor noted at sign up. Felt more like a time share sales pitch than a cooking class. The food was excellent- staff + value= 2 stars generous
We went for a cooking class, our first since before the pandemic. Lots of fun! Chef Steve was great. Also great selection of chef supplies.
This review is only for their cooking class. Don’t waste your money. A complete waste of time. You don’t learn anything, everything is already prepped, and you’re just being sold to for 1 hour on their appliances. It wasn’t even fun? My partner and I left with a printed recipe sheet and very empty stomachs. Lol. Just sift through the other reviews to find ones about their cooking class for more detail. Others left pretty informative and detailed ones.
My date night cooking class was such a disappointment surf and turf. I would not recommend sur la table classes to anyone who already has an ounce of cooking experience, as the only thing this class offered was a reason to leave the house. The instructor couldn't have made it any more obvious that this class would be fast. She forcefully asked the group personal questions after telling us she had to, then exclaimed "well, that killed 5 minutes!". She didn't instruct or teach us anything about what we were making. We worked in groups to not even get to cook our own meal. I also found the menu to be extremely basic with no techniques or guidance offered. The eating of the meal was super rushed and awkward as everyone just stood around the burners and set up. And the place realllly pushes the sales pitch to buy their items throughout the entire class. This was a christmas gift that I spent a lot of money on, entirely too much money, and felt so bad for my fiance that this was his gift. This place really has to do better.
This Sur La Table is a nice size with a large selection of items. They also offer cooking classes. It is close to a parking lot so if you are going for a class parking is close and convenient. However, I cannot say that the staff was welcoming or friendly.
Yesterday, I called the store needing to have 2 knives sharpened for Thanksgiving. Mark said that I could bring in the knives and wait while he did the sharpening onsite. This man is a knife aficionado! He handled my knives with care and sharpened them to a tee!
ZERO RETURN POLICY - If you buy a pan, on your first use the coating starts flaking off, they will not allow you to return it in the store. Even products sold from their store brand on the day you bought it can not be returned. You MUST contact the manufacturer, they won’t bother with customer service.
Awful. My wife bought a so-called aluminum pie shield, made in Taiwan, on October 19 or 20. We tried it out for the first time now and it left the crust covered with flakes of silver paint. See the attached photographs. I wrote a longer review of the product CRU 302083 on the Sur La Table website, but I suspect they won't post it. So I'm writing here. You need to remove this product from your shelves, because it's a health hazard.
