We were in Maine for a week and couldn't leave before trying some fish and chips. Susan's Fish & Chips hit the spot for us! The melt-in-your-mouth, flaky fish and crispy batter, with the house tarter sauce and a splash of malt vinegar it was the perfect bite. You won't be disappointed!
Susan’s came highly recommended for a great local spot, and it delivered! Friendly staff, delicious lobster roll at a fair price. So glad we came here!
$10 off for going on my birthday, so I decided to try the clams with some free coffee! I was NOT disappointed I've been here a few times and it's always been a positive experience. Nice staff, great food, generous portions!
Local gem! Had the fried clam dinner for lunch and it was everything I hoped it would be. No frills atmosphere where the focus is on great service and good food.
I love Susan's! It's a little hard to see from the road, since it's literally in the left hand side of an auto garage, but the place is phenomenal....plus where else can you go with a cleaned fish where they'll cook it for you!? Polite staff, following all Covid-19 safety guidelines.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No
No frills fried seafood joint serving up generous portions. I had the fried clams and calamari dinner combo plate. It definitely satisfied my cravings for fried seafood. I've had better fried seafood elsewhere, but this place offers good value given their generous portions and reasonable prices. Feedback: Tarter sauce could have used a little more kick and I would have preferred a crispier, cleaner tasting fry.
Had fish and chips in a lot of places over the years. This humble little garage with its plastic tables, concrete floor and friendly but no nonsense staff is up there with the very best. The fries were good but the fish was superb. Lightly battered, large portions and cooked to perfection. If you are in Portland and love your fish and chips, you won’t regret a visit to Susan’s.
Do not be deceived by the grounds' and building's appearance. It was a body shop before its current iteration. It is a place for locals that like fried seafood. Menu is almost exclusively fried, so don't come here for other options. Very, very good and very authentically Maine fried seafood. I love it, personally. I recommend the Fish Sandwich. It's like the Filet-O-Fish from McDonald's, but much better.
I am a regular and have a fish sandwich almost every week. Value is best around. Service is good. It's a throwback to old vintage with lots of stuff on the walls, without much attention to ambiance. But the locals love this place.
We were visiting Portland Maine from Mobile Alabama. Found this gem of a place. It's an institution no doubt. You must go. I had the fried haddock and it's so fresh. Long story short we went for a second time the previous night before our departure. Don't miss it. We love Maine.
