In 13 years in DC, Sutton Plaza was hands down the best place I've ever lived stayed for 5 years; cried when handing in my keys. Units are well maintained albeit cozy. Yes, there are some hot days in the fall and spring when the AC isn't on. Other residents are pleasant, and the management staff goes above and beyond. Neighborhood is perfect as well. I've heard fantastic things about all Keener buildings.
Sutton Plaza is a quiet community, conveniently located int he heart of DC. My unit had excellent natural light throughout the year and it was completely renovated when I moved in. Management and staff were always friendly and helpful, they solved my issues with diligence regardless if it was 1 a.m.! I truly enjoyed my time there and would have no reservations to move in again whenever life brings me back to the District.
Great Location and management team. I'm about to terminate my lease and move elsewhere, but I generally enjoyed my time living here as a resident. The maintenance team is always super responsive, and the resident manager Ian is super helpful whenever issue rises. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is because of the physical condition of the property. It is an old building after all. It has a two pipe system where you can either have heat or AC. My unit is a studio, which is tiny, and the unit does not have really good airflow and insulation. In summer, the AC doesn't really help control the humidity, so I have to run a dehumidifier 24/7 to keep the humidity normal. And winter time, because of how small my unit is, the heat makes the air super dry in my room. It is just not very comfortable, and I just don't see myself living in any two pipe system building anymore. The management team is awesome! They're always helpful. I love all the concierges that worked here, especially Lisa. They're very nice and helpful! Whenever I get home, they always greet me with warmth. I never had much issue living here other than the natural defect of the building itself. I would recommend it to someone who does not mind buildings with old systems. It's at the heart of D.C. and it is super conveniently located nearby all the restaurants and shops. The management team does a very good job taking care of the residents here.
I have loved living in this building. The units are renovated and quiet, with high-quality appliances, and the building is kept in great shape. Also, the management company for this building is exceptional. The people who work onsite, Norma and Ian, are kind, responsive, and helpful. They know everyone by name and sight and go out of their way to make people feel at home. Maintenance requests are completed immediately, and the building even does preventive maintenance like clearing out the drains annually. I would highly recommend living here!
Very solid - nice fixtures and good fundamentals, but not flashy. Quiet building of 20-40's early/mid-career people. Good staff and no issues with construction, pests, maintenance, etc. I choose a Keener apartment sight-unseen based upon reputation because I was moving from out of town, and it was a good choice. I'm moving out after only 1 year because the 1Br apartment is just too small for a 30yo couple who can now afford bigger and better. The common amenities are very slim, but many people would rather not pay for them anyway. Policy of going month-to-month after 1 year without rent increase was a big selling point. However, now that we gave our 60-day notice, they show our apartment every Saturday 10am-4pm, so it feels like we live in a zoo. If you work close to Sutton, especially if you don't know where you'll work in a year, it's a building that I'd recommend.
Great apartment complex in the heart of DC located near both Green/ Yellow line and Blue/ Silver/ Orange line stops. Professionally managed by Keener Management, which own and operates a number of apartment complexes around DC. Keener Management was always very responsive to all of my inquiries and went well beyond expectations. The units are well laid out for their size. The unit I lived in was completely renovated and offered all the basic amenities, including and washer and dryer in the unit. The units are very quiet and, and there is very rarely any sound bleed between the units. The building also included a small gym and industrial sized washers in the basement. I liked the unit and the property management company so much, I moved to another one of their buildings when I moved to another part of DC.
My wife and I lived here for 2 years before deciding to buy our own place. I would recommend Sutton Plaza to anyone. Keener Management Norma and Ian in particular, the front desk concierge staff and the building maintenance team are top level. Thank you for your hospitality. It was great to call this place home!
A wonderful place to live in DC. Close to everything. The building is clean and safe, the staff are kind and helpful, and the tenants are quiet. They also have activities for the community or during the pandemic they gave gifts in lieu of the activities.
Words cannot explain how much I grew to love this community. I'd have to start with the fact that this was the first home that my partner and I shared together. The space was small, 420 square feet, but the way the apartments are laid out never made it feel small. The staff were always quick to respond to a maintenance request. The common areas were spotless and the staff also throw community events for everyone to come by and chat. you couldn't beat the location of the community just two blocks north of downtown, two blocks from the Green/Yellow line, off of the 14th St. corridor and blocks away from beautiful Logan Circle. I wholeheartedly recommend Sutton Plaza. Especially if you're a young couple looking to find your first apartment in the city.
Great place to live! We've lived here for a year now, and it's been very nice. The location is perfect - very close to several metro lines. The management is great, very accommodating, and extremely prompt and helpful. They are very responsive and really look after their tenants! I would definitely recommend living here.
