Visiting from out of town and wanted a good Philly bakery experience. We found two potential bakeries. We actually flipped a coin to choose. Sweet Nectar it was! Well what a MAJOR disappointment. There was only a small selections of cupcakes and super small cookies. We bought two cupcakes. They were as dry as the personality of the owner. We didn’t eat it all and decided to go to Denise’s bakery which was the other choice. Completely different experience. There was a line, the employees were friendly and greeted is warmly. There was a really nice selection and we purchased cakes slices and cookies. The lemon pound cake was amazing. The cookies were awesome. On my way out back to NC, I went back and bought a bag of cookies for the ride. I will definitely go back to Denise’s but Sweet Nectar may have great made to order cakes but do not go there for a pit stop. Waste of time.
Sweet Nectar is the best bakery in Philly. I’ve been very pleased with every specialized cake order. My birthday cake was a hit at my party. The vegan cupcakes are yummy! Robin is always courteous and professional. A must place for your sweet tooth.
I rarely write reviews. I do however want to share my very disappointing experience at Sweet Nectar Dessert Kitchen this morning. My daughter was craving blueberry muffins for breakfast. I headed to Sweet Nectar with a long list of items based on web reviews and the online menu. I was very surprised that the bakery only had a limited selection of cupcakes and small cookies available. I was informed one must order muffins 48 hrs ahead of pickup - which is not stated on their website. The lady waiting on me was more concerned about the cake she was fixing than helping me. Totally disappointed with service and selection - will never go back.
I simply love this bakery. The space is beautiful, clean, and warm but more importantly everything I've ever bought from here has been scrumptious! I especially enjoyed the carrot cake. So moist, not too sweet, and reminded me of a tweaked old family recipe. This is MUST STOP for anyone in the Philadelphia area.
Are you looking for a little piece of heaven on earth? I was visiting Philly from Boston this weekend and found it at Sweet Nectar in the lemon pound cake. The cake is moist and the lemon flavor saturates your taste buds to the very last bite. Not only is the cake amazing, but the customer service is just as good. I can't wait for my next trip to Philly. Sweet Nectar is definitely on my list of things to do in the Philly area.
Great owner and cupcakes! My daughter surprised me with a cupcake decorating class here. The owner was very knowledgeable and her lemon frosting was the best.
Wonderful flavor combinations. We ordered a vanilla peanut butter anniversary cake, and it was scrumptious. All natural ingredients. Highly recommended.
These desserts/breads are moist and made w/gmo-free ingredients. Ronin also carries handmade ice-ice sandwiches/preserves from local merchants. Relax and enjoy the scene a collage of white & black beach photo as she box your purchases. Did I mention the baked doughnuts w/cinnamon and slivered nuts/orange glazed/chocolate glazed and plain?
Robin Broughton-Smith, owner. She’s gone from Jay-Z’s accountant to the creator of cookies, cakes, baked donuts, cupcakes and all manner of seasonal specialties in the Art Museum neighborhood. The shop also offers classes and private parties.
Wonderful addition to our city. The space is warm and inviting; Robin the owner and baked good mastermind is lovely; and the desserts are amazing!
