Finally decided to try this place and was Not disappointed. Spicy pork dumplings were different.. maybe a subtle fish flavor? Quite oily - still very good! Used the oil to spice my rice. Mongolian Beef was really great, although it had onions only thought I saw Jalapenos in other photos. The beef quality was good, not chewy or fatty. Can't beat one dollar hot tea. Had enough left over to take a small box home. As Arnold said, "I'll be back!"
I saw someone on Reddit jokingly say this is the “best vegan restaurant” in Milwaukee, but they’re not wrong. We tried 3 different dishes Dan Dan noodles with tofu, Mapo, and dry salted fried tofu. Everything was delicious, spicy, and came in huge portions. Highly recommend for authentic Sze Chuan with vegan/vegetarian options, which staff are knowledgable about. I just wish it was closer to downtown so I could go more often!
Very authentic Sze Chuan style Chinese food. I ordered extra spicy kung pao chicken, and they delivered! Mind melting heat from the Sze Chuan chili peppers. Lots of respect to the chefs for delivering on the extra spicy request, as most people would not be able to handle this level of heat. The fried rice here is also incredible. I would make anyone visiting Milwaukee try this place if they like real authentic Chinese cuisine. This is not like Dan Dan all dressed up with garnishes, this is the real deal.
We have been coming here for years, and adore it. Authentic, consistently wonderful food. As a vegetarian, they have THE best Mapo Tofu I have ever had. I could eat it every day!Food: 5/5
I hade the tripe cold pot for the first time ever! Very very tasty. I most definitely would eat it again. Service: The tall guy with black glasses kept ignoring me. He would walk right by. I had my hand raised. The short lady server got me my fork. When i tried to ask a question she acted like i was asking for a million dollars. No smiles, very dry service.
Quality food and great service to enjoy with company. Even though they don’t take reservations here, this is still a favorite spot to bring a small group party. I wouldn’t trust bringing a larger party unless they enable reservations. Food: wow. What a bang in flavor and spice. I can’t find Szechuan food or even Chinese food in general that is up to this par. It’s so good. The menu is a bit intimidating. You just have to jump in and experience the plates. They have hot pot, many Szechuan style plates, and a huge assortment outside of that. Environment: pretty average environment. Nothing special. My only gripe is that it can be hard to hear people at my table. The acoustics of the room isn’t the best. Service: awesome! Very helpful, honest. The server suggested my table away from a plate and got us to choose a plate we enjoyed. Parking: Offers a large parking lot within a strip mall.
- clean - cheap price for lunch - delicious & comfort food - best crab rangoon at Wisconsin. Soft inside & crispy outside
The food was good. Spicy and authentic. It also came out hot and fast. The only reason it's prevent from getting 5/5 is the lack of service. We pretty much got our water and that was pretty much the last interaction we had with the staff. No water refills or asking how our food was.Food: 5/5
Set in a strip mall with a great Asian store. I have heard about Sze Chuan from some lamb lovers but never had the time to go check it out. Since I was shopping for ingredients, decided to stop by and try the restaurant. Since then have gone back twice. The restaurant is not fancy and somewhat hectic, but the food is delicous. I have yet to try the hot pot, but tried the dry pot and they are delicious chicken and some lamb. I am a fan of egg drop soup and it was silky as expected. The portions are hearty and the flavors abudant. The service is a bit hectic - sometimes you have to ask for things twice, but the intentions are good. Looking forward to returning.
The only place in the Milwaukee area that serves authentic Chinese food AND Americanized Chinese food. It’s truly the best of both worlds. To my fellow Asians/Asian Americans, this place is actually legit. And you can stop by Uni Uni on the way out for some boba. Skip the homemade dumplings - we found the skin to be too doughy and thick, and the flavor of the filling was lacking. But the Beef Chow Fun was phenomenal the ultimate comfort food. The Beef Wraps are delicious. Honestly, I’m so pleased with finally finding my favorite foods made correctly and actually relatively affordable, like a Chinese restaurant should be in the area that I don’t mind the 20 minute drive from the city. It’s worth it. I promise.
