Finally made my way here during Happy Hour. Spent a very pleasant evening enjoying a pint of Guinness, Smithwicks and half-order of fish and chips. Delicious. Service - very good. Prices - excellent. Reminded me very much of Ireland. Intend to come back for the Irish breakfast during brunch.

We come to this place often. They have live music and other events almost every weekday and they show all the Red Sox games. They also have the best pour of Guinness I've found in Portland. Tom and his staff are very welcoming and treat everyone like family. This place is the very definition of a neighborhood pub. In the short time they've been open—a little over a year—they've become a staple of the Alberta street scene. I can't say enough good things about this place. I'd recommend for anyone of any age.

The person who took our order was lovely. She was friendly and engaging and competent. We had a beer, a manhattan, fish and chips, and a hamburger. Our total before tip was $38. Because you order and pay (if you don't want to keep a tab open) at the same time, I tipped 20% without knowing if the experience would be worth it. The fish and chips came in one of those fancy funnel-shaped stands -- chips were in the bottom, one good-sized piece of fish on top. Luckily, a small plate was included (I had to fish my fish out of its elegant, conical prison before I could eat it). Tartar sauce was included, but no lemon. I was asked if I wanted ketchup or vinegar, I accepted the vinegar offer. I think the waiter was just being polite as I never saw him again. Alas my fish and chips were sans vinegar til the not-so-bitter end. The burger was requested medium rare, it arrived gray and thin on a condiment-soaked bun that was too mushy to be allowed. It was left behind. The fries were good. I'm a big believer in second chances, but with so many other options in town, I doubt I'll revisit TC O'Learys.
I haven't followed up yet, but the fact that O'Leary's responded to this review is enough to at least bump it up to a 3. I do look forward to the second chance (everyone deserves one).

This is the best Pub I have ever been in. The folks here are friendly, and the food is fantastic. This is not a place to get drunk it is a place to have a drink with friends. However: you can wind up losing time and spend the whole day here. Monday nights they have live Irish music. Tuesday they have a Ulysses book club. Not your ma's bingo on wednesday. I myself head there Saturday and Sunday around 11am for a traditional Irish breakfast. This place is where poems and stories are written and good times with friends and family are shared.

It had a great local & friendly vibe. Lots of great alcoholic drink options. I especially liked the "night of song" when musicians come in for Irish folk music.
