Truly the most delicious Mediterranean food I’ve ever had — and I eat/cook the cuisine frequently! What’s even better was the prices — my jaw dropped to see the huge hummus bowl was only $10 and the delicious lamb pan was only a little more at $16. I can’t think of another place in Manhattan that provides such great value for amazing food. My partner and I ended up going twice in our 5 night stay. The staff was also super sweet!
One of the best spots for a casual, healthy, affordable meal! You can get a great meal with great flavor, generous portions, and lots of veggies for < $15 here. It gets more crowded during lunchtime, but even then your food is ready in less than 15 minutes. The hummus has a great creamy consistency, and the sweet potato falafel is crispy on the outside but soft and moist inside- not too dry. The lamb kofte is also incredibly flavored, moist, and well-seasoned.
The food here is really good. It is made to order and very fresh and well made. The food is very tasty and seasoned well. There is a wide variety and the price is super fair for the amount of food they give you. I really have nothing bad to say. The Staff were super friendly and helpful. Really hit the spot and the craving was very satisfied. Also they have keto and Paleo options as well as vegetarian. Really great place. Dietary restrictions: Keto and Paleo options as well as vegetarian.
My friend and I ordered a hummus bowl and sweet potato falafel platter. Food was thoughtfully presented. The portions were perfect for sharing between the two of us and reasonably priced came down to $12.40 per person. Overall, a solid option for a casual, relatively-healthy lunch.
LOVED this place. The portions were very generous and the flavors were outstanding. My chicken shawarma pan was big enough to only eat half and save the rest for the next day. We also ordered the lamb shawarma pan and a hummus bowl. I'd say my favorite was the hummus bowl with pulled pork. It was perfectly done and seasoned. Absolutely delicious! I would totally come back.
Delicious Mediterranean food, quick, friendly service, decent prices for the area, convenient location to union square. Take out, pick-up, order at counter/sit-down options. Appreciable vegan, plant-based and vegetarian, and gluten free options. Found this place as a compromise to get a quick bite for me vegan and non-vegan friend. Atmosphere filled with middle-eastern music - in the mood to dance but not loud enough to drown out ability to have an intimate conversation. Loved the Kruveet pan
Been wanted to try this place for a long time. Enjoyed the pan entree a lot. Got the sauted mushroom with avocado and a labne on the side. It was very filling. The yellow rice vermicelli was yummy with tumeric. We also had the falafel square shape and potato chips which were also good. Staff were energetic and friendly.
After visiting the nearby Union Square Farmer's Market, we Googled a place to eat and found Taboonette. The menu read enticing so we gave it a try. I ordered the Lamb Kebab pan. The Lamb was crusty on the outside but rare on the inside and the Eggplant was very mushy. Both could have been seasoned better and were bland. Neither the side of Falafel nor the pan come with the standard Tzatziki sauce so I paid the upcharge of $2.50, wow, and it wasn't really true Tzatziki - no olive oil, no garlic, no dill, mint, or parsley - just thick yogurt and some shredded cucumber. My wife ordered the Eggplant pan and reported that it too, was bland. Neither pan comes with a pita, wow. I like to eat at places that feel like a good value, but I didn't get that from today's lunch at almost $50!, wow. The highlight of the meal was the mint lemonade. Lots of wows though...
This is a no frills and casual Mediterranean experience why union square. You don’t go here just for the place. You go here if after an appointment or errand and you want something yummy and light. The crispy chicken schnitzel is bomb. Overall good times. Nitpicky here but missing star for subpar chips. Go with the bestie after a nail appointment or haircut. Enjoy!
Ordered a salmon pan of 17 dollars. Totally worth it. It’s grilled salmon with arugula salad and quinoa. Tasted clean and the macro portion made the meal very healthy. There are only a few things I wish the restaurant would do: 1 not to add the sour cream; 2 not to rub the salmon with spice that is too salty; 3 not make the quinoa that salty and also the quinoa’s portion can be smaller. But anyways this is a great choice in the union square neighborhood. And it’s a good place for eating alone. Would definitely come back.
