I feel much like I was robbed of my hard earned money. I bought a tanning package here & tried to use it the past few weeks. Each time I showed up during business hours, I gathered with a few customers outside as we were confused/ unable to get upstairs into the tanning salon.. I tried again last week, only to show up to a MOVING TRUCK, and movers loading the tanning beds. One former customer I happened to meet outside told me she found out they were closing today, 2/16. I tried contacting them via phone numerous other times, and left messages, only to check again today, and the number is no longer in service. They stole from me because they didn’t provide a service, or reimbursement when they clearly knew they were closing. This is decidedly unethical and the lack of human decency is mind blowing. I have filed a consumer complaint. If you’re the owner and reading this, you need to refund me my money.
Two stars for this place. DO NOT go to any other locations if this owner opens up another. I went for a while over the winter and had a decent experience. Hit and miss with customer service depending who was working that day. The kicker was them shuttering the business with ZERO NOTICE to any customers. In late January 2022, I used all my mins and spent $100 purchasing more mins to use over the Spring. The next week, I went back to tan, and there was a sign on the door that said “No TanWorks Today.” Come to find out they had closed the business entirely without notifying any existing clients - no emails, no phone calls, nothing. That $100 I spent that I never used a single minute of? Never refunded, despite me calling, emailing, even sending DMs on IG countless times. They also store client’s lotions for them there at the salon. The $100+ I spent on 2 lotions? Was never allowed to come in and pick them up. All those lotions from clients were either taken by the owner or tossed in the trash. Awful business practices. If this owner opens another salon in Boston, I will NOT be giving them my business.Service: Tanning
Felicia was super helpful answered all my questions. Definitely will be going back. Owner please get the girl a new computer/software or something lol FYI: went on 2/1 this place is closing on 2/16 for good per the receptionist in the front. Bummer : was looking forward to more sessions.
They shut down the business 3 days after selling me the tanning package. There is no way to contact them to get a refund. Filed a consumer complaint.Service: Tanning
Haven't tanned in a few years and went in asking for advice on which bed/which level I should do and the front desk person was extremely helpful and took her time to explain packages and options. Very happy I found this place!
Tanworks GLO is located in the heart of downtown and is one of the last larger tanning salons that have been to in Boston. Always friendly staff, clean restrooms and booths make for an enjoyable session. Prices for single use are expensive but packages are reasonable especially considering all factors. Years ago I would run around to neighboring towns and citie's salons because of low prices. But in 2020 Tanworks GLO gets 4 stars because it hits the sweet spot between great location and reasonalbe pricing.
I used the Versa Spray and it was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had in a long time. Not only did the employees tell me absolutely nothing about what to expect, but they also made me feel rushed and like I was inconveniencing them by being there. The floor was slippery in the room and I almost fell as well. I would not recommend this experience.
This is the best tanning salon in Boston!! It's a hidden gem located downtown. The salon is cheerful, clean, and had the best prices around. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. 5 stars all around!
This place is VERY hit or miss. I originally went for spray tans and they are fine for that. However, the first time I went for regular tanning, I mentioned I had never done it before. I did not receive any instructions for how to use the bed or any extra advice except about the lotion being to help the tan and whether I would like eye protection; up-charges were all that was explained. I used the level 1 bed for 7 minutes and burned, unevenly. I didn't roll over during the time so my back was burned except for my spine and anything that wasn't directly on the tanning bed. I told my friends and they said that I need to rollover and make sure to do my sides but it was probably a bad bed, but who knows if that's even a thing. I spoke to fellow pale people more and they said to use the standing tanning room because it will be more even. After my burn healed, I did the lowest level standing room for 4 minutes. It was over before I knew it. I just barely burned and it faded perfectly and I started to get a base tan! I went one more time a few days later and asked for four minutes. They definitely set the timer longer than that. I left before it was done and I'm a complete lobster. When I say 4 minutes, I meant FOUR MINUTES. I shouldn't need to set my own timer as a backup. The point of tanning was to try to avoid getting burnt in the caribbean, but I've learned my lesson. I would rather burn naturally versus burn artificially in advance. It took way longer than I expected and I was confused why the machine wasn't turning off. I made the mistake of trusting myself less than the people there. I will still be burnt when I leave for my vacation and have an even higher chance of getting skin cancer now. THANKS
